My first card would be in '72 or so. I used to go to the old Rocky Mount Ballpark where the "Leafs" and then the Phillies single or double A minor league teams played. Kind of the outdoor equvilent to an armory.
Lot's of great talent would come through to set up the "big" matches in Raleigh at the Dorton Arena which is only an hour away.
On the first card I think I saw Johnny Weaver and Agentina Apollo v. Missouri Mauler and Brute Bernard. I was only ten so that may not be correct.
The best match that I ever saw there was Jack Brisco v. a very young Ric Flair that went to a 45 minute time limit draw with at least twenty more minutes of Flair bumping all over a muddy outfield. That was awesome!!

Hey gwlee, I remember the Rocky Mount Ballpark...my cousin used to tell me about going to shows there in the 70s. I've also been to Dorton Arena and Cumberland County Civic Center.

October 12, 1978 at Surry Central High School in Dobson NC. The main event was Claw vs. Claw, Baron Von Ratschke vs. BlackJack Mulligan. I was only five years old at the time. BlackJack has been one of my all time favorites ever since.

Nice topic.
Maybe someone can help me with the date. I don't know, since I was a kid at the time.
My first live show was at Charlotte's Memorial Stadium.
The matches I remember were Wahoo McDaniel vs. Johnny Valentine, Andre the Giant vs. Blackjack Mulligan, and I remember Boris Malenko in a tag match. This was probably the early-70s.

Hardcore, regarding that Charlotte Stadium card -
This almost had to have been in 1975.
The George Scott 1975 Day Planner lists a stadium card on Monday 6/30/75 with Andre vs Destroyer (Jardine), and Wahoo vs. Blackjack in a strap match. Malenko is in a tag there. That is the only stadium card I found on quick revierw. Could this be it?
I suppose it could have possibly been in 1974, but Mulligan was not in full time then, and it would have had to have been a special shot.

For me it was Spartanburg SC, the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 1976. I wrote an article about that night on the Gateway when we first launched the website 5 years ago. "Giving Thanks in Spartanburg"

Summer of 1958...
Statesville, N.C. Ball Park...
I remember seeing GEORGE BECKER versus THE GREAT BOLO.
Everything else is a blur. I was only a kid (really, I promise).

You got a great deal with the senior citizen price cause you were what, 60 or so in 1972! ;D Anyway my first card was in Bangor, WWF from 1993, Yokozuna vs. Savage for the world title. Crush interfered to cost Randy the match

My first live show was at the middle school gym in 1986 in Seagrove, North Carolina. I remember Jimmy Valiant vs Ivan Koloff in the main event, and Paul Jones, Barbarian, and a couple others. The NWA was the best wrestling ever; how I long for those days......

My first live show wasn't a Mid Atlantic show, the IWA was still going and they came to the Altavista Ball Park. The Mighty Igor faced Bulldog Brower in the main event. All the kids ran up to the ring as Igor entered. While most of the kids were pushed back, I slid up into the ring. Igor raised my hand like I was the winner. I was promptly escorted out of the ring. I remember Nick DeCarlo and Johnny Powers being on the card, but not much else.
By the end of the year the IWA was gone and I went to the Roanoke Civic Center and saw Wahoo McDaniel vs. Ric Flair in a "Lights Out Match" in the main event.
