I am sorry that we did not get a chance to connect in Lenoir either. It was a good card. I hope to get to another CCW event in May.
Flair/Sting title change rumors hit in late December. I was in high school and we had an early dismissal (1 PM) because of the snowfall. We drove 10 miles (took over an hour) to East Rutherford, NJ for the title change. Historic night, but a small crowd (maybe 5000)

On Vacation in Myrtle Beach South Carolina at the Old Convention Center... Here's what I remember, and I have some really bad pictures that I took ( with the good old 110 camera!) around 79 i believe Abe Jacobs Vs Don Kernodle vs Kim Duk Jay Youngblood vs Ernie Ladd/ Ric Flair vs Rick Steamboat/Dino Bravo The announced at this match that the night before that Steamboat had defeated Paul Jones for the TV Title...of course the place cheered ! One thing that was really cool for me is that I got Steamboat and Bravo to sign my program for me ( it's the color one with Bravo on the cover)...I still have them and the tickect stub Next live event didn't live up to that....all we got in Huntington WV for a while was The Sheik's Big Time Wrestling out of Detroit....what was strange to me about one of those shows is that Mr Wrestling II did a spot show with them and wrestled The Sheik. Got to see alot of The Sheik ( who was scary as h***), Jay Strongbow, Don Kent, Mighty Igor, and on one show Andre The Giant ( and dang he was big!)

When and where was the first live event you saw? Who was in the main event? Mine was 3/12/83 in Greensboro!!! I picked a good one didn't I? Dec 1975 at the Township in Columbia SC. I remember part of the card like yesterday. Swede Hanson wrestled a draw with Johnny Weaver, Paul Jones and Wahoo wrestled the Andersons in a double DQ brawl, and the Columbia debut of Blackjack Mulligan - he absolutely destroyed Tim Woods in less than 5 minutes - Tim never got one bit of offense against Mully (at the time, I didn't know that Woods was injured from the plane crash, so that's probably why the match was such a quick squash). This match led to the hatred of Mully by the crowd, but the #1 status that he held in my eyes for his entire wrestling career. In my memorium to Swede Hanson, I mentioned how I met the big Swede which led to a friendship with the big man that entertwined the 2 of us until his death. That night Swede gave me his autograph while Gene Anderson was growling and threatening me. Swede came to my rescue (I was a skinny 14 year old kid back then) and he ended up being more than just a performer, but a great guy. It was my pleasure to have met and befriended such a great guy - and I met him at my very first live event.

I don't remember the date but it was probably sometime in '79 at the old Charlotte Coliseum. I do remember some of the matches:
Greg Valentine vs Dino Bravo Ken Patera vs Tony Atlas Flair vs Steamboat
I remember that Flair was wearing green trunks and Steamboat was wearing blue trunks because these people behind me were arguing-
Guy a few rows behind me: "There's a punk in a blue suit!!" Girl a few seats away: "No there's a punk in a green suit you mean!!' It went on for quite a while. It's funny, the things you remember.

FIRST I WANNA SAY HELLO TO ALL THE OLD JCP FANS OUT THERE. I AM NEW HERE AND GREW UP GOING TO THE TOWNSHIP AUDITORIUM ON TUESDAY NIGHTS IN COLUMBIA S.C. I WAS NOT A WRESTLING FAN WHEN I SEEN MY FIRST WRESTLING MATCH LIVE. I DON'T REMEMBER THE WHOLE CARD BUT I DO REMEMBER IT WAS TERY FUNK VS PAUL JONES FOR FUNKS WORLD BELT.IT WAS AT THE CAROLINA COLISEUM IN COLUMBIA S.C. THE MATCH WENT TO A BROADWAY AND WHAT JUST DREW ME INTO WRESTLING WAS WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE MATCH. FUNK WAS WALKING BACK TO THE DRESSING ROOM AND I JUST RIPPED INTO HIM..HECK EVERYONE ELSE WAS SO I FIGURED WHY NOT. HE GLARED AT ME AND SLUNG THE WORLD BELT AT ME BARELY MISSING MY NOSE, BUT I GOT A GOOD LOOK AT THAT BELT AND THE WEARINESS IN HIS EYES AND WAS HOOKED ON PRO WRESTLING FROM THEN ON. I FIGURE IT WAS AROUND 1974 OR 75.

My first card was Aug. 22, 1980 at my old junior high school in Culpeper, Va.:
Ron Ritchie b/ Tony Russo S.D. Jones b/ Gene Lewis Paul Jones b/ Dewey Robertson Non-title: Ric Flair b/ U.S. Champion Greg Valentine
Flair's victory setup a return bout on Nov. 22 with the title on the line and Flair won again, this time by countout. He went on to take the U.S. strap a few days later.

September 1987 in the Greensboro Coliseum. I remember Ric Flair vs. Ron Garvin (can't remember who had the strap at that time, as the title change came in September 1987 too), Dusty Rhodes vs. Lex Luger, pretty sure the RnRX faced Tully & Arn also.
If anyone remembers anything about that show, I was thinking it was late September but could be wrong, I'd love to see full results. I got the tickets as a gift for my fourth birthday (late August) and remember it fondly.

I imagine Bobby has those results. i got everything right here, but no show like that in september. i think it is rather the 8/22/87 show in greensboro: rocky king beat gladiator #1 italian stallion beat larry stephens ricky nelson beat colt steele **eddie gilbert-terry taylor lost to chris adams-sting kendall windham beat teijho kahn US title: lex luger defended losing to dusty rhodes NWA tag: RnRX defended beating tuly blanchard-arn anderson NWA title: ric flair defended against ronie garvin. Draw by Countout. **definitely one of the best matches i ever saw in the greensboro coliseum. and you see where it is on the card...4th out of 8 matches. just another example of stupid booking. should have been no less than the 6th. and i say that far down because the top three were the title bouts and i feel title bouts should always be on top.
