I have some recollection that one or more of the Von Eric's did appear in this area for an appearance. Now I am pretty sure they were never on MACW TV.
Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

i remember seeing i think david. it may have been david and kevin on channel 40 out of fayetteville. it was mid-atlantic but i cant remember the host. they always had the cool interviews like the ones you see on coming soon to the cumberland county arena promos. the show started on 40 soon after the channel came about and i think it was sat night about 6 or 7.i am pretty sure david or kevin never came to fayetteville and i am not sure where they recorded the matches for this show. i do remember the host kind of had a slight shake with the mic.

never heard of that one wes. i'd liked to have seen that.
david and kevin were in the NWA world tag tournament in charlotte on 1/8/84. this is the one where don kernodle-bob orton,jr won the titles. don't know who they fought, but they were there. as for tv, they did show the last few seconds for kerry being pinned by flair to win the title from japan. that's the only time i know of them on any MACW tv.

i bet thats the one -the tourny-it seems like the matches were from different places, almost like a best of. any help anyone? i do remember seeing for the first time like mad dogg buzz sawyer and some others. it was a cool show but it was a long time ago. most of the guys i saw that were new to me i saw in pwi, which as a kid i could read cover to cover and could not wait till next month. the others were inside wrestling and the wrestler-my mom got a subscription for the latter two and i got these through the mail and i knew when the brown envlope arrived i was going to be busy. she said she didn't care as long as it was reading and now that i think about it she was right-push reading-anything that is morally correct

i had it made as a fan cause i could even watch through the fuzz florida champ wrestling on sat about 5 pm on channel 12 which was not cable, and it was snowy but gordon solie was great. then it was onto 40 with good reception for the show i mentioned before. my sat mornings of course had wccw from dallas sportatorium at 10 on 22 from raleigh followed by i think world wide wrestling at 11. good times!!!!!!

This thread brings back a lot of memories. Here are a few photos I took at the Charlotte show. If I'm not mistaken, David Von Erich died a week later in Japan, and I'd heard this was his last match in the U.S. I believe Wahoo tagged with Buzz Sawyer in the tournament. I have photos of them vs Road Warriors. I also remember Alexis Smirnoff tagging with Ivan Koloff. Anyone know who the black guy is in the photo below? He tagged with Rufus R. Jones, but I don't recall the name. The photo of Kevin with Tony Schiavone is a post-match promo they taped at ringside.

It's not Bearcat Wright is it?
I've only seen Bearcat Wright on DVD from Florida. I would think at this point in 1984 he would be retired or was semi-retired. Of course we all know how that works in pro wrestling, or other sports/entertainment for that matter.
Can anyone recall who the VE's did the job for? If they even did the job?
At this point Southwest sports was right in the heat of things as a territory. They enjoyed a decent 2 1/2 year run. Anyway World-Class television was seen pretty freely on national basis via syndication and I think thru Christian network association. I'd be interested if the VE's did the job in the Carolinas. Lord knows the bs Flair put up with in WCCW as champion. Wonder if they returned the favor.

I think Shannon is right. I seem to remember it as being S.D. Jones, although I can't tell that from the photos.

David Von Erich died right before I was old enough to follow wrestling so I never saw him on a weekly basis on WCCW, only on tapes. Which Von Erich was the best worker. I remember when my brother and I wrestled on our trampoline I was always Kevin so I could wrestle barefooted.
