am i the only thunderfoot fan? in the 80s i always cheered for him and loved his antics in the ring. i saw him live when i attended many nwa events in the 80s. i think the former central states tag champs(along with thunderfoot#2) deserve more respect. am going to see thunderfoot #2 in action in conway, sc this december. go thunderfoot! i even taped a thunderfoot #2 win over darrel dalton on tbs back in the late 80s. just wish the crocketts had given thunderfoot a better role in their promotion. anyone know where i can get a copy of thunderfoot's win at starrcade? or the thunderfoots first round win in the crockett cup and 2nd round loss to rude and fernandez?

i thought they were a good team as well. too bad they were relegated to central states to be champs at that pont in time. when the crocketts controled central states, it was a jobber title in my eyes. though i am sure todd champion-david peterson and the batten twins had good bouts with the thunderfoots.

Who were the Thunderfeet? I'm pretty sure the originals were Joel Deaton and Gene Ligon.

The original Thunderfeet were Joel Deaton and Mike Fever BUT before the gimmick started Fever went to Florida to wrestle with a partner and they were the INFERNOS...Fevers replacement was Gene Ligon

Ligon could tote a whoopin! Joel Deaton always looked the part but never got a push!

Raider, no you're not the only Thunderfoot fan. For a long time, I thought I was.
I think you're really lucky to have been able to see that tag team live when they were working the NWA/WCW circuit.
Would love to chat with ya about the Thunderfoot team if you're interested.

Thats correct Fever KNOWS the true story behind the Thunderfeet......One reason Fever left Thunderfeet was because he and his Inferno partner were working a long program with Hector and Chavo Guerrero and eventually won the Fllorida Tag Belts

Wasn't Jerry Flynn called Thunderfoot, too?

Jerry Flynn was Lightning Foot" ....By the way were Joel and Vernon Deaton really brothers......I always heard them billed that way around Georgia, but wasn't sure if it was legit.........The Rock n Roll Express shoot interview has a funny story about them wreestling Black Bart and "Thunderfoot" Joel Deaton. Worth checking out the interview from RF Video................ By th way, I was always a Thunderfoot fan as well......I just watched the Championship Challenge Series match the other day with Black Bart/Thunderfoot vs Road Warriors........ Man when wrestling was FUN to watch......

RE: Joel Deaton and Vernon Deaton....I was a very close friend to Joel Deaton. I am 99% correct in saying this....Joel and Vernon were NOT real brothers. Joels real name is Joel Jones. I have never heard Joel say he has a brother although one time briefly he worked with another guy in GA. who called himself "Hoss Deaton". Joel has one sister I know of and have NEVER heard him say he has a brother. I would ask him but I think he's still in prison. Once again, knowing Joel for over 20 yrs, not once have I ever heard him say he had a brother , let alone Vernon Deaton.

OK.....I always thought that the guy who was called "Hoss" actually was Vernon Deaton....They had a similar look with the long mullet style hair and beard as well as similar physiques......I rememebr Joel as a being a great worker in his day, and actually had a short run in WCW in 1990 with Tommy Rich....From 1988- 991 he worked for a promotion in Rome, Georgia called Peach State Wrestling.....They ran shows at Dillard's Music Park every weekend and Joel was one of their main stars....He had soem good to great matches with David Sammartino, Chic Donovan, Mr. Wrestling II, Tommy Rich, Rip Morgan, and the Armstrongs......Sad to hear that he had some legal troubles...... When Joe Pedicino started the GWF in the summer of 1991 I was thrilled to see Deaton and "Bad Boy" Billy Black get a pretty good slot on the cards as their succesful tag team....I remember clamoring for them to get picked up by WCW......They could have had some really good matches with the Steiners, Southern Boys, Rock n Roll Express, etc........

Hoss and Vernon were two different people. I remember Vernon as enhancement talent during the JCP years. I believe my only recollection of Hoss was working for Nelson Royal's ACW promotion and a few shows after that.
Joel was naturally talented. He and Black did quite a few tours of Japan.
