When the area became known as the Mid-Atlantic the Andersons had not yet reached their peak. The best was yet to come.I agree with you Bobby that the Anderson's became the best tag team in the world. They were still growing as a team during the Becker/Weaver vs.Hawk/ Hanson era.I wish the Bolos would have come back to area more often. They were the best masked team I ever saw.Just my opinion.

pre 1974 I would have to go with Weaver-Becker or Hawk-Hansen,but the time of the Andersons was the best of all time.........

I too will go with Weaver/Becker, Hawk/Hanson, and the Scotts. Of cousrse these are really the ones I remember the best. Was Missouri Mauler/Brute Benard here or just after the '74 cutoff?? They were another grat team that had a good feud with Argentina Apollo and Johnny Weaver.

The Missouri Mauler teamed up with Brute Bernard in 1970 after returning to the area with the Eastern heavyweight belt. Both the Mauler and Bronco Lubich made good partners for Brute Bernard. The Mauler and Brute teamed for almost two years.

Does anyone have any posed photos of Brute Bernard with the Missouri Mauler? Or Mauler with the Eastern States belt?

That top belt may be the Southern title (Crockett Promotions). Not sure about the 2nd one, but neither are the Eastern title. I also am searching for photos of the Missouri Mauler with the Eastern belt. For a history of the Eastern title (there were only 6 men that held it) see this page on the Gateway: Eastern Heavyweight Title History

BJ,
I was going to cut and paste that cool picture you guys used to have of MM/Brute Benard and Homer O'Dell but unfortunately I couldn't. I know you've had to reduce the photo gallery there but that picture of them in the ring was a great shot that really brought back memories of my first few live wrestling matches. One of the first I ever saw was MM/BB v. Weaver and Argentina Apollo.

The top picture of the Missouri Mauler is definitely the Southern Heavyweight belt.I would love to have a photo of Johnny Weaver wearing it.If anyone out there has one they would be willing to part with I would surely buy it.

I know we have swerverd off the main topic of this thread, but here is a photo of Johnny Valentine wearing the Eastern title belt (when it was recognized as the Mid-Atlantic title, but just to illustrate what the Eastern title looked like): Baltimore Jack: I guess Flair held the Eastern States belt, too? I remember seeing pics of he and Wahoo wearing this belt.

Baltimore Jack: I guess Flair held the Eastern States belt, too? I remember seeing pics of he and Wahoo wearing this belt. I think what happened is that they lost the MACW belt and used this belt and called it the Mid-Atlantic Championship Belt, even though many people probably recognized it as the old Eastern States Belt?
