What was the story behind the "glove"?

Gene had injured his wrist earlier in the year of 1973. He wore the glove for support but he would also load it and knock his opponents out cold.I saw him beat Thunderbolt Patterson twice with the glove.
In Aug.1973 Jerry Brisco put his Eastern Heavyweight belt against the glove in Greensboro. After winning the match Brisco threw the glove into the crowd at ringside. One lucky fan went home with a prize that night.Too bad I was no where close to the area the glove landed in.Maybe it will turn up on ebay someday.

I found 3 new pictures of my Dad wearing the glove I will get to Dick and I'm sure he will post. Great shots of my Dad and Weaver and Dad is bleeding all over the place.

As I recall, Johnny said he wrestled his last match sometime in 85 the last time I spoke to him. I know he said he retired at least then. That's when he started doing commentary. I don't have anything concrete myself though.
