There were six men that held the Eastern Heavyweight title (Crockett Promotions) during its lifespan of 1970-1973. You can see photos of these men with the belt (except Jack Brisco - haven't found a photo of him yet with the belt) in the Eastern Champions Photo Gallery on the Mid-Atlantic Gateway. The Eastern Heavyweight title history can be found by clicking here.

In the fall of 1971 I thought Johnny Weaver would win the Eastern belt. From what I understand Johnny took over some of the booking duties after George Becker left. Then Jack Brisco beat Missouri Mauler for the belt.Maybe Johnny Weaver did not want to be booker and champ. That is just a guess.Maybe someday Johnny Weaver will do an interview on the Mid-Atlantic Gateway.

If I think about it, I'll ask him the next time I see him. I'm surprised he hasn't done an interview for the Gateway yet, but ya never know.
