Is the interest there from you guys, as opposed to an "NWA" Fanfest?

As you can probably guess, I don't find myself getting too excited about a WWF reunion, no matter how many W's you add to the name. That being said, it is the other Vince, and there is a lot of history there. I have been told by my family about going to Capitol Wrestling back in their day.
My mother talks about meeting Rocca, Apolo, Buddy Rogers, the Kangaroos, and host of others at the Capitol center. I have respect for those guys, but I'm not excited about driving 5 hours to see a WWF show.

As I said above, it depends on how well I know the people who are going to be there. I know most of the guests at the NWA Fanfest, but there are usually a few people who I never heard of or read about. ( I started watching wrestling in 1986)
I am not familiar with Capitol Wrestling, but it seems like I would not know many of wrestlers there. I would have to see if it was worth it as it gets closer and guests are announced.
Like I also said above, if Bret Hart can be the main guest at an NWA convention, who's to say there won't be NWA or 80's WWF guests there??

I believe most of the TRUE Capital stars from the 50s and 60s are no longer with us so I would assume the line up would consist mainly of WWF stars of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
And if that's the case, I'm there.
If we are talking strictly 60s, there's Bruno, Watts, Kowalski, Steele, and a few others I would pay to see.

I guess I should explain the title.
Rockville, Maryland is just outside Washington, DC the home of the old WWWF Capitol Sports Promotion. It is also just down the road from Baltimore, a strong town for both WWF and NWA.
So there will be a mixture of stars from both groups -- and others -- at next year's fanfest. I'd be interested in hearing from folks that grew up in the DC-Baltimore area and to hear your memories of wrestling in the area.
The word "Capitol" was chosen for various reasons (location, history, etc.,) whereas, to use the NWA name or WWWF name, we'd need to get the approval of others. But, to be honest, I don't want to limit it to either group, so we're gonna go for the best of both worlds.
Hope you guys will make plans to be with us.

I grew up in northern Virginia and attended numerous shows at both the Capital Centre (which no longer exists, sadly) and the Baltimore Arena. If there was a show in town, either one, from 1991 until '93, for those three years I was usually there.
Interesting that you chose Rockville, Md. We were discussing this in Charlotte. Nothing against the area, but we were wondering why not a town that at least has Metro access. I don't believe Rockville does and Friday afternoon traffic could be a rude awakening for those not familiar with the beltline.

You mean beltway right devil? And you are correct in that Rockville has no Metro access so traffic will be a concern. I have lived in Northern VA my whole life and I started attending Capital Wrestling sanctioned by the WWWF around 1978 until the expansion in 83-84 and would regularly attend those shows at the Capital Centre as well as any Mid Atlantic shows at the Richmond Coliseum and HS gyms in central Va up to Fredericksburg. Quite a few of the stars during that period wrestled under both banners such as Valentine, Mulligan, Masked Superstar, Rhodes, Iron Shiek, Snuka, Muraco, Patera, Atlas, Rocky Johnson (Sweet Ebony Diamond), Sgt Slaughter and so on. Rememeber during this time period Capital Wrestling and the WWWF/WWF were a member of the NWA. So yes alot of guys that were in Charlotte easily could fall into next years fanfest category. Add Backlund, Graham and a couple of the above mentioned guys to the list and I think you'd have a nice little lineup with a couple good Q&A's. As I stated in another thread, I would love to have Race, Backlund, and Graham in a Q&A discussing thier title changes and title unification bouts and how they were booked and worked. The Capital Wrestling and WWF of that era wasn't as stong in the tag division as MACW and their guys were more "stiff" and brutal in the ring than the swifter, quicker lineup of MACW (Steamboat, Flair, Youngblood etc) which was IMO more entertaining to watch.

Spent many weekends driving in the northern VA/DC area, it only gets worse. My advice is to drive in on Thursday night and avoid the traffic.

Actually any weeknight is bad on the 95 NoVa/DC corridor. If you're coming in, better plan to hit that area north of Fredericksburg,VA or south of Landover, MD on a weekday mid-day or early afternoon or else add on another 1-2 hours more to your trip, especially with the massive Springfield "mixing bowl" and Wilson Bridge replacement projects going on for the next 2 years.

The Doubletree is adjacent to Twinbrook Metro Station, making it an easy train ride to the famous attractions and important offices in the nation's capital. The station is literally just out the back door of the hotel.

Well that's cool. I didn't realize it went through there. It's been about 4 years since I last rode the metro. Well, shoot, that beats everything.

I dont what it's called or where it's held, I'll be there! GP can run a show in Timbuktu and I'll have my vendor tables. I think it will be GREAT to get out of the Carolinas and have a chance to meet new fans and wrestlers.

Not to mention that if you guys plan on making a vacation out of it, well jeez, I can't imagine you'll find anything to do in D.C. LOL.
