I can't say it enough.
Thanks to each of you that came out to support our fanfest weekend.
I am so happy that so many of us are able to get together on a regular basis, reminisce about some of the best times of our lives while, at the same time, creating some memories that will live with us forever.
It is truly a pleasure to be able to pull this thing off. Sure it's a lot of work, and despite a great turnout we didn't make it to the break-even point, but I am committed to continue to do these things. And I hope each of you will hang in there and continue to support our efforts.
I'd also like to thank all of my volunteers who worked tirelessly til the end. I couldn't do it without their help.
I'll leave it at that, for now. I still have some rest to catch up on. But I'll be back asap with a complete rundown of the weekend. There are some issues that need to be addressed (Dory Funk, Ole-David Flair, etc.) that I want to clear the air on. So stay tuned.
Thanks again to everyone for supporting our fanfest weekends.
Greg

Wow. To be honest, I have no idea the work and money it takes to put one of these on, but thanks Greg for doing them! Hopefully through selling memorabilia and DVD's you can get to that break-even point.

I would be VERY interested in helping out financially next year... Maybe sponsor a wrestler or something.
Or maybe I could just put up some money for a regular sponsorship... And put a little ad or something in the program.
Either way, I want to help make sure these fanfest events keep going!

So something did happen between Ole and David Flair....There was a rumor (I can't remember if it was this site or another one), but nobody seemed able to confirm anything. I have never been to a fanfest, but I was thinking about trying to talk some people into coming to the next one. As it turns out, however, the next one may be some kind of an old WWWF (WWF-WWE) one. I don't know if I would as excited about that (of course, it depend on who is going to be there) I was born in 1975 and didn't start watching wrestling until 1986, so I am not familiar with Capitol Wrestling, but it sounds like a lot of these people wouldn't be people I was familiar with (then again...Bret Hart was at an NWA convention...so who is to say there won't be 1980's WWF stars there.) I went to www.capitollegends.com and so far, all it says is "coming soon" and "this site was recently registered." I will be watching it to see what info will be available. I hope this isn't the end of the NWA Fanfests.

Never mind...it was www.capitallegends.com that was registered. That is mis-spelled, so it probably has nothing to do with this.

I echo Bobby's sentiments. This was my first ever Fanfest and I had a blast! Greg, thank you for all of your hard work. I wouldn't mind if you had to in order to break even if you raised VIP ticket prices from say $99 to $129 or $149.

Greg,
I was at the first FF and it was fantastic and this one to me was even better. That one table with all the champs sitting at it was just a dream come true. I can't thank you enough for a great w/e. It was truly a once in a life time event thanks to you. I am going to try to get you inducted to the Observer HOF!! LOL

I wouldn't mind if you had to in order to break even if you raised VIP ticket prices from say $99 to $129 or $149. Thanks for the input. I'd hoped that $99 would be seen as a bargain to everyone. We do need more revenue streams to be able to pay for this thing. Thus, the 8x10s and Polaroids. I realize now that Polaroids are a thing of the past. I'd love to be able to provide the photo sessions for free but, here again, we just need to increase revenue to be able to pay for the weekend. So I'll be taking a LOT of advice and suggestions between now and next August and I'm sure this is another thing that we can improve upon. I've listened to all feedback in the past and tried to implement the best suggestions. I think those suggestions have contributed to each fanfest weekend being a little better than the previous one. And I thank each of you for your feedback. Greg

Had a good time in the short amount of time I was able to spend at the fest this year........ Only made it to the Saturday night matches and for 4 hours on Sunday. The matches were great and definitely added to the whole experience. Good job. But since you said you are taking suggestions.........of course I am more than willing to throw my 2 cents in. First off........If you are looking to make more money to cover all expenses........You might want to advertise in the town the event is taking place in. I get around Charlotte quite a bit and saw no posters or ads anywhere. No radio spots and no wrestlers doing radio promotion. I know one of the on air personalities at WFNZ and when I told him about the fest, he couldn't believe that no one at the station was aware of it. A few posters placed around town in record stores, tattoo parlors, comic book stores, and places of that nature would have helped too. Seriously, I think 90% of the crowd at fanfest was from out of town.......I saw maybe 3 or 4 people that I knew were from Charlotte. Yeah...it would cost some money to advertise......but I think it would be worth it. The more you draw....the more you make. I think that's how that works. CCW advertises like crazy and draws thousands to the tiny mountain town of Lenoir every month. Think what that type of ad campaign could do in Charlotte. Another thing I was suggest is totally ditching the VIP thing and give everyone access to the Q&A sessions for a price. If you still want to do VIP for autographs then fine.......but you're missing out on a lot of possible revenue by not allowing everyone access to the Q&A's. Believe it or not, some people can't take 3 days out of their lives to justify paying 100 bucks for a VIP pass but probably wouldn't mind shelling out 10 bucks to spend and hour or two listening to one of their wrestling heroes speak. I also think you would bring in more people by dropping the price a little on daily tickets. Friday and Sunday should definitely be cheaper than Saturday since they are shorter days. 20 bucks for Friday and Sunday.........30 for Saturday. 10 bucks for the Q&A's.......10 or 15 for the matches. Oh yeah........one complaint about the autograph lines.......How about a few TV's set up showing matches so you don't have to sit there bored out of your mind for hours waiting your turn? I noticed there was a big projection screen in that room that could be lowered from the ceiling. That would be nice........everyone sitting around us waiting on Sunday was saying the same thing.
good job overall though........a much wider variety of guests........hate I had to miss Superstar, Ox, and Hansen but I was busy on those days........hope you can get them back.
I've got one word for next time...........Piper.

CCW advertises like crazy and draws thousands to the tiny mountain town of Lenoir every month. Think what that type of ad campaign could do in Charlotte. Doug, in the first two events here, we spent almost 50 grand in local advertising (radio, newspaper, etc.) and got no significant return. I decided this time to switch gears and instead we did 15,000 fliers in convenience stores, comic book stores, etc. within a 150-mile radius of Charlotte. I did do minimal advertising on WSOC this time, but should've saved that money. David Crockett told me months ago over lunch not to depend on people from Charlotte, they won't support it. I never realized that it was so bad, but apparently it's been the same way for 50-something years. Sure folks from the outlying areas come and support us, but not the local folks. I'm sure lots of people wouldn't mind shelling out 10 bucks, but the bottom line is we need to pay bills. Due to space, we have a limited number of seats to sell. We give VIPs all kinds of extras in order for it to be worth their $99. If we start giving away things for $10, then we need to make up the other $90 in revenue somewhere. Discussed last year on here. It would slow things down because even the "talent" on the stage would be stopping to watch the screen.

Yes, I would be more than willing to pay a bit more for VIP tickets. $125 would be perfectly reasonable for all that is included in the price. This year, though, I want to be closer to the front of the VIP lines. So, just let me know when I can buy my ticket!
