I would be open to the proposed date the week before Thanksgiving. It worked out fine for me having it on Thanksgiving this year for the Friday night events. I would suggest not have anything on Friday if it wasn't a holiday weekend. I have a 3 hour drive if traffic isn't too bad and would have a hard time leaving work early to make a Friday night.
