Why did the Sheepherders have to wrestle twice in the second round at the 88 cup? They beat the Cruel Connection in the first round. In the second,they defeated the Lighting Express,then lost to the Midnight Express. All of this happened in the second round.What was the reason?

I think it had something to do with Barry Windham turning on Luger shortly before and leaving him without a partner and Ronnie Garvin getting stabbed with the Golden Spike by Sullivan, leaving Sting without a partner. Luger and Sting ended up teaming and that threw off the brackets. In a moment of illogical thinking, the Sheephearders had to wrestle twice in the second round and were then eliminated.
