I was at the WrestleReunion in Tampa and brought a wonderful old glossy B&W photo to have signed. It pictured both Harley Race and David, both wearing belts. I asked Harley to sign it first and he didn't recognize the photo and suggested that someone had merged the two wrestlers onto one picture. When David signed it, he was happy to see it and stated it was taken in St. Louis when they were matched title to title... Does anyone have any more information when this event happened, date, arena, outcome?  Many thanks, Fred* |

I think you mean Kevin, who is the only surviving brother, and was at the Tampa reunion.
Now, was the photo of Harley with Kevin or with David? I think David was Americas Champion with World Class Wrestling when he met Harley Race for the NWA title in St. Louis. Not sure about what belt Kevin might be wearing, although if you wanted to scan the photo and e-mail me I could probably tell you what title he's wearing. PM me on the board if you're intertested.

Race probably got suspicious the minute you said "I'm gonna have David Von Erich sign this too." ;D

David Von Erich was the Missouri champ from September of 1983 until January of 1984. Race was the NWA World Champion during at least part of that reign. Maybe those are the two belts involved? (especially if they were in St Louis for the picture)

I'm new to the board and I am damn glad to be here!
That is the Missouri State Title on Von Erich's waist.
I just saw a match on Classic St. Louis Wrestling Volume One between Race and two of the Von Erichs (Fritz and ?) where Harley is succumbing to the Claw and he CLEARLY blades while the camera is RIGHT on his face. Old time wrestling...love it!
