Why did Harley Race become a manager when Luger won the WCW title over Windham? Was Race starting to hurt again from the more previous injuries, or was it just a serious job promotion with higher pay?

I was under the impression that he was suffering from the prior injuries, and was wrestling an extremely limited schedule. I remember him filling in for Vader in a few matches with Flair, but I have not watched his shoot tape yet. I think he discusses it there.

I am not Luger basher, but he wasn't the best 30 second interview by a long shot.

My gosh, I hadn't thought of that "allocades" comment in years. That was the best!
If you haven't checked out Race's new book, he goes into great detail about why he came back to manage Luger. I won't spoil it for anyone. It's a great read!

lex run out of "allocades" for himself. Lol, Yes! Mr. Luger needs to realize the word is "accolades", something he didn't deserve a lot of the time.

Yes, Harley's book goes into great detail about the manger stint. Good read. I'm sure when these guys write their life's story there is good times and bad times. I wished Harley would have added more about all those NWA title defenses. The title switches with Dusty in 79 and Rich in 81 are not mentioned. Interesting note, in July 1990 Flair hurt his knee and was out of action 2-3 weeks. Harley replaced him in several tag matches with Barry Windham against Luger and Sting. This was right after Flair dropped the title to Sting. So Harley could still go night after night. He was tough!
