Arachnaman.
Am I the only person who LOVED this short-lived gimmick for Brad Armstrong in 1991?
I get such strange looks from folks when I talk about this, but I thought Brad looked so cool in that thing. And I wasn't ever really a Spiderman fan, but Brad pulled this off beautifully. His body style and ring style lent itself so well to making this work.
I told Brad about this at the CCW show in Lenoir a week or so ago. I think he thought I was nuts, too! But he seemed to really enjoy talking about it. He still has the two costumes that WCW had made for him, both cost $1800 each at the time. One was never worn.
Okay, I'm ready to take heat for this, so bring it on.

I like Brad Armstrong in just about any form. I liked Arachnaman and Badstreet. I liked "The Candyman." The one gimmick I HATE was the hippie one towards the end. But you can't go wrong with Bad Brad!

i felt that if someobody that knew what they were doing would do it right, it could have been successful. look what new japan did with tiger mask and jushin lyger in the '80's. they took two characters and made them into huge wrestling gimmicks that lasted for years. and with brad in the costume, who better to have used to make a star out of the gimmick with?

I thought Brad Armstrong looked great in that costume. It's too bad that Marvel Comics asked him to stop before the character really had a chance to catch on.

Bobby, that's exactly it! It had potential in the right creative hands and Brad was perfect for the role. I think the comparrison to the Tiger Mask gimmick is right on the money.
(Thanks for the image capture, Lobo.)

I thought Arachnaman was kind of an average gimmick. Not great and not terrible, somewhere in the middle. I thought Brad Armstrong was at his best as Badstreet.

I had forgotten Brad Armstrong was Badstreet. Didn't really like the Arachnaman gimmick, but he was always a solid wrestler. Really enjoyed his tag team with Tim Horner, The Lightning Express. Is Brad still wrestling?

I thought Brad Armstrong looked great in that costume. It's too bad that Marvel Comics asked him to stop before the character really had a chance to catch on. Is that why it ended? I never heard that before. Thanks for the info cwh47. I liked when he shot his webbing. I still remember Brad doing it to One Man Gang.

I liked it honestly, I thought it would be a great way to market to the kids, plus give a great wrestle a chance. Brad was awesome in the ring and I think this could have gone somewhere if done right.

I liked this gimmick as well. Would have been great for the kids if the (right) people were running the show at the time. Look at the time frame here. This is when we run the greatest Champion of all time out of the promotion. Poor, poor management!! When JCP sold out it all seemed to go to pot!
