The program is from the show on Dec.28,1959.Though the arena shot is not from this program I believe it may have been taken during the same time frame. If look closely at the advertising banners, you can see info on the WBTV show and the National Hat Shop.

CWH.............I was at the first match at the Park Center in January 1958...............I can't recall a lot about it except that Brute Baynard and Skull Murphy were the main event.................my dad, brother and I did'nt miss a Monday night for a long time and we were probably present in that picture..................looking at the ring the referee looks to be Johnny Hydeman (SP)..............at the lower left ring post looks to be George Harbin..............the Nationa Hat Shop banner.................that was one of Mr Crocketts businesses.................it was on the square in downtown Charlotte....................we would arrive early on Monday nights (about a 40 minute drive from Gastonia)in order to get our tickets for the Wednesday night TV show.............the good ole days....................I miss it.............Matt Burns AKA BARRY7X

Thanks so much for posting this. Could it get any better than the Charlotte Park Center for a night of wrestling? Look at the building, the PERFECT size venue for wrestling, not a bad seat in the house. Those days, and those type buildings (for the most part), are gone.
I love that banner: "Championship Wrestling 5:00 PM Saturdays on WBTV 3"

You got that right, Jack. Just walking around in that building I could feel the history of the place. It is such a neat building and there is no bad seat in the place. That's true.

Many, many great Park Center memories...
Wish I had back every $2.00 I spent for a ringside seat. I could retire...
