The newspaper ad below represents the first defense of the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight belt by Jerry Brisco. On Friday Sept.7, 1973,Nelson Royal subbed for Jerry Brisco in a tag match in Charleston,SC.The newspaper reported that Jerry Brisco was "ailing". Jerry Brisco returned to action in Greenville,SC on Sept. 24,1973 against Ole Anderson. The title is not mentioned in the newspaper ad.On Sept.25,1973 Jerry Brisco teamed with Rufus R.Jones to beat Rip Hawk and Bobby Shane in Columbia,SC. In Anderson,SC on Sept.26,1973 Jerry Brisco beat Rip Hawk.Again there is no mention of the title in the ad or next day results. The results article for the card below says "Jerry Brisco defended his Mid-Atlantic Championship by defeating Bobby Shane last night at the Coliseum." It seems Richmond,VA was the host for the first Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight title match after Jerry Brisco was presented the new belt in Greensboro,NC on Sept.6,1973. Wrestling Memories would like to thank Mark Eastridge for providing this clipping.

Great stuff cwh, you know how I love knowing every little detail about the Mid-Atlantic title. Mac W. Richmond will be glad to know this, too!
