Weaver wins Southern belt on TV

I have been searching for years hoping to find a NC
edition of TV Guide to confirm the date this match took
place. Greatbologuy and I have discussed this match
several times over the past year as he also saw the
match.

The match was taped on Wed. October 25,1967 at the
WBTV channel 3 studios in Charlotte,NC.It aired on
Saturday Oct.28,1967. Bolo,the match happened a little
earlier than either of us remembered,but we were very
close on the time frame.When we talked to Johnny
Weaver last August, I told him I believed the match
aired in November,1967.

Johnny Weaver defeated The Missouri Mauler in a 2/3
fall match to win the Southern Heavyweight Title.

I will be posting the clipping and match info later on
Wrestling Memories.I just got the book today and I
wanted to share this with all the fans of JCP wrestling.

Ah, yes...I remember this match and show well.

I was at my cousin's house, and he and I watched it together.

Johnny won falls 1 & 3.
