This was the Southern Heavyweight Belt used in the Crockett Territory from 1965-1969. It is the same belt that was defended in the Florida Territory also. Below you will see one of the Southern Tag Team Belts. These are not the best quality but, is the best we have now. We hope to add a Belt Gallery in the future to Wrestling Memories.

You are exactly right Bobby. The Missouri Mauler was photographed with this belt on several occasions when he held the title.I have been searching for years for a photo of Johnny Weaver with the belt.Recently, the family of Charlie Harville provided Wayne Brower with one which you can see in the WGHP section of Studio Wrestling on the Mid-Atlantic Gateway.I believe the photo was taken during a show that aired in the fall of 1968.
Bob Orton Sr. was the first to defend this version of the belt here beginning in the summer of 1965.
Klondike Bill also held the belt for a short period after winning the belt from Mauler in late 1966.We hope to find photos of these men with the belt also.

The photo on the WGHP page was cropped a little bit, and didn't really show the Southern Belt that well. Here is the full image: That's Rip Hawk in the ring behind Charlie Harville and Johnny Weaver. Wally Dusek is waiting in the ring to do ring introductions after Weaver's interview. The WGHP-8 Studio Wrestling page can be found by clicking here.
