Did Ric Flair debut in Mid Atlantic in 1973 or 1974? Who was his first opponent? Where did that match take place?

May 1974.I am going strictly on memory about this here so if I am wrong I hope someone has the documentation to confirm what is correct.I believe Ric made his debut on Monday May 13,1974 in Charlotte,NC against Abe Jacobs.

I know that Flair won the NWA Mid Atlantic tag team titles with Rip Hawk back in July 1974; however, I was uncertain about his debut in the territory.

Unless I misunderstood him, Les Thatcher told a group of us at Spindale last month that he was Flair's first opponent in JCP.

Ric Flair finished up in the AWA on May 6th, 1974 in Detroit Lakes, MN and started with Crockett a week later. Ric Flair's first match in the Mid-Atlantic territory was indeed May 13, 1974 and against Abe Jacobs. Flair wrestled Les Thatcher later that week in Richmond. CLICK HERE to view a large newspaper ad image from that Charlotte show, from the Mid-Atlantic Gateway. They even spelled it right the first time! The results of that show were: Billy Ash d. Johnny Heidman Bill White d. Ed Wiskowski Scott Casey v. Pedro Godoy---Draw Ric Flair d. Abe Jacobs Haystacks Calhoun d. George "Two Ton" Harris Paul Jones & Bob Bruggers d. Rip Hawk & Chuck O’Connor (Jones & Bruggers retain Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Titles) Bearcat Wright d. Johnny Valentine in 10 Round Fight (fight stopped in 7th round due to cut over Valentine’s right eye)
