Those clippings are so cool. When I started watching wrestling, the TV guide as well as the local TV listings in our newspaper, only said "Wrestling". No description, not even the name of the program. These are great! Thnaks for posting them.

Is that channel 13 in the TV guide WLOS-13 out of Asheville? Or a 13 from some other part of NC or SC?

I actually remember several of those specific listings. That tells you how old I'm getting.

I am right up there with you Bolo. I really treasure our conversations about the past. Many of my friends and neighbors who loved wrestling are gone now. I wish they could be here to share memories a lot older than I have. I miss them all.

I was just looking at the clippings. I believe I counted 4 of those Saturdays having what I qualify as main event matches.
Am I missing something? I just don't remember in those days having main event matches on television.

Well when we got a main event on the Charlotte show it was usually to build towards the big shows at the Coliseum or Memorial Stadium. The same goes for the High Point show when the Greensboro card was being promoted. When the shows were promoting the weekly shows at Park Center or the Lexington YMCA ,the tv cards were generally not quite as strong.
There were a lot of wrestlers that appeared on these shows that held titles in other territories before and after they worked here. With the tag team matches being 2/3 falls back then most everyone got a chance to shine.
During interviews from that era it was very common that the wrestlers would talk about how good and how tough their opponents were. None one ever really looked bad.In later years when you had five matches plus interviews the time constraint seemed to generate more quick squash matches.

Hello Matt,
I hope you are doing well.I have an old photo here somewhere of Mr.Moto and his assistant.I will hunt it out so I can scan it and post it here soon.I don't think it was the Mr. Fugi that we saw in the 70's and 80's but I could be wrong.

I doubt it was the Mr Fuji of WWWF/WWF fame, but I do not know.
