There are two tag teams from the late 60's that I thought were very, very good and I hear very little about. And that is the Missouri Mauler and Hiro Matsuda and Tex McKenzie and Nelson Royal.
Did either one of them hold a tag team title in the Mid-Atlantic area?

Tex McKenzie and Nelson Royal had numerous shots at the Southern Tag Team belts but never won them.
During 1964 through part of 1965 "Sir"Nelson Royal wrestled with the Viking as his tag team partner. They were a very good heel team.During tv interviews Johnny Weaver,George Becker and Abe Jacobs would praise the skills of Nelson Royal and encourage him to come over to their side.
Tex McKenzie showed up in JCP in the second half of 1965 and was a big hit so when he and Nelson Royal formed a team they went over big. They teamed in JCP pretty much until the end of 1967.
A couple of weeks back Baltimore Jack introduced me to Mrs. Nelson Royal who was very nice and gracious.I really enjoyed the time we spent talking about Nelson.
On to Mauler and Matsuda.I liked Matsuda better as a single. They did enjoy great success in six man matches with their manager Homer O'Dell as their partner.
When Mauler took on a partner he was better suited with Pampero Firpo and my favorite partner for him was Brute Bernard. As I said Hiro Matsuda and one of the Mauler's earlier partner's ,the Great Malenko were much better in singles matches.Just my opinion.

I would bet your conversations with Mrs. Nelson Royal would have made a good interview for this website!!
