At the Lenoir show Sat.night there was a friendly old timer who said he wrestled for Jim Crockett promotions in 1960.He pulled a newspaper ad from his wallet that was from Lexington,NC dated Oct.14,1960 at which he wrestled the opening bout. The main event was Sandy Scott vs. Gypsy Joe.
I told Mr. Hamby this was a little more than a year before I saw wrestling on tv so I did not remember him.I am very interested in the complete history of JCP especially when it concerns people who are still with us. I would love to have a photo of Bob Hamby in his gear from that time period if there is one available.
Georgia Wrestling History results have him there in the summer of 1964 but no pictures.A google image search didn't produce anything.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I read little bit about Bob Hamby. He was a manager of Bob Geigel and Bob Brown way back in 1968 when he was using the name of Robert Herbert Hamby in Kansas, Iowa and little part of Missouri. Geigel and Brown were great heel team and held North American Tag Team Title over there. Picture of Bob on the front cover of Kansas City, Kansas. If you want to see the picture of Bob the way he looked back then, I will send it to you right away. My email address is Mbauman01@aol.com. Hope to hear from you. Thank you. Take Care. Sincerely, MiamiWrestling1968.

Bob is a great guy. When I used to ref for Stallion and George South's PWF he used to show up at all the Taylorsville shows. On at least one occasion, Stal even let him work. I know I have one match of his on tape around here someplace. Bob was a really nice guy and Im glad to hear he's doing well.

I would have loved to have seen that clip of Mr Hamby when he wrestled in Lexington, NC I don't remember him, but my dad used to take me to the matches there when I was a little kid in the 60's, it was held at the Lexington YMCA on Sat nights and it was always packed!
