According to the US Patent & Trademark Office website, the first "use in commerce" for the name "Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling" is listed as Dec. 31, 1971! Jim Crockett Promotions finally got trademark registration for the name in 1977. After it had been a while since JCP was promoting wrestling, the name was given "dead" status by the Trademark Office. Then the new Mid-Atlantic wrestling came along, and the name was given "live" status again in 2004. You can look this stuff up using the trademark search on the official website of the US Patent & Trademark Office: www.uspto.gov/index.html
