Penny Banner was the very best lady wrestler I ever saw. Also when she did tv interviews with Big Bill Ward or Charlie Harville she was always very gracious and humble.I saw Miss Banner wrestle numerous times on tv and in Winston-Salem and Greensboro coliseums during the sixties and seventies.I never saw her lose a match. The only time she did not pin her opponent was a 1973 match in Winston-Salem against Moolah. They were both counted out of the ring.
I will never forget the performances and hard work of Penny Banner. She will always be a very important part of the history of Jim Crockett Promotions.

I am sure Ms. Banner will appreciate those kind words.
We are lucky to have her as a member on this board. As soon as she gets back from a little R&R, I hope she'll be posting here regularly.

Great info. re. Penny Banner. I know that she had a great record in her matches. Do you remember some of the girls that she met and defeated in TV and arena matches

Penny gives a list of women that she wrestled in her book Banner Days. It listes the women she wrestled through out her career in most of the territories.

Here are some of the other ladies I remember seeing Miss Banner wrestle:Judy Grable,Toni Rose,Belle Starr, Fran Gravette,Peggy Patterson and the lady I saw her wrestle most Tammy Jones(sometimes spelled Tami or Tammie-never knew which was correct).I remember a couple of times when Penny's opponent did not show and Miss Jones took their place.I was lucky enough to see them wrestle at our local YMCA in April,1969.
Some of the ladies I remember seeing Penny tag-team with are Kay Noble,Barbara Nichols and Vivian Vachon.

One of my very favorites from the early 70s that I had a huge crush on was Vickie Williams.
