During a conversation with clipcorner a few weeks back he reminded me of something I had almost forgotten. Klondike Bill won the Southern belt from Missouri Mauler in late 1966 and held it for a couple of months. The belt would not fit Klondike's waist so he carried the belt over his shoulder.
Southern Heavyweight champs in JCP:
Bob Orton Sr. Missouri Mauler Klondike Bill Hiro Matsuda Johnny Weaver

Seems like every area had a Southern Champ, Georgia, Flordia, Seems like whoever was Southern Champ got a shot at the NWA champ so it must have been a top belt to have.

You are absolutely right Flair81a.Bob Orton brought this version from Florida in 1965.Championship Wrestling from Florida started airing on WBTV Charlotte in 1964 at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday nights.Missouri Mauler brought the belt back to JCP in 1966 and took it back to Florida in 1969.When Mauler came back to JCP in the fall of 1970 he had the Eastern Heavyweight belt which he said he won from Pat O'Connor.
