Does anyone remember if the NWA ran newspaper advertisements in their newspapers for house shows? I am focusing on 1985 to 1987, and was hoping some of you might remember if they advertised in your cities, and if so were the ads in the sports page?
Thanks!

the greensboro paper had them in the sports page mostly. as well did st. louis, norfolk, raleigh, fayetteville, and asheville. st. louis and norfolk usually featured ads, and then had results the next day.

Thanks for the responses. I've checked many dates of 1986 shows in Greensboro, and looked in the Greensboro News and Record. I could not find any ads. Were the Greensboro ads in a different newspaper?
Also, do you know what the papers were for the other towns? I have found many ads in the Asheville paper. Norfolk - Virginian Pilot? Raleigh - News and observer? Fayetteville - Fayetteville observer? St. Louis - Post dispatch? Charlotte?? Did they run ads? Atlanta - Did they run ads?
I have also checked applicable dates in 1986 for the main papers in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Los Angeles. I was not able to find any ads in the papers during house show dates. I assume that there are some cities where ads just weren't ran?
Thanks again for everyone's help.

virginia pilot raleigh news and observer can't recall what faytteville as called then st louis post dispatch..i think so charlotte....i looked and RARELY found an ad in it. i mean RARE. atlanta...never saw one
by '82 or so, both greensboro daily newspapers merged. by '86, the wrestling ads and results (which greensboro did do the next day usually) were dwindling away. i know i have seen a bunch from '80 on up to '84, maybe '85. after that, there wasn't much. have seen some results ads from the '70's. i found most of the ads i have for a college library, that's how i know about the ones i stated. st louis was really good with both ads and results. the MACW stuff was pretty much the same ole thing. st louis was a great mixture. i got two ads, i think from LA times .

Fayetteville was the Observer-Times. It's now just the Fayetteville Observer. I should know. LOL.
I know they used to put newspaper ads in for local shows in Culpeper, Va. (Star-Exponent); Orange County Review, Madison Eagle. Also, they ran all the time in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. I have plenty of those from 83-86.
