Gene worked with "Lars Anderson" in JCP before Ole came.
I remember when Gene and Lars were "jobbers" on TV and arenas in the mid-1960's.

It is hard to believe that Gene Anderson was a jobber back in the mid 1960s. I recall seeing him in 1983 and he did not look to be in good physical condition by then. His best days were, with Ole, in the 1970s.

Does anyone know if Gene ever did 6 man duties with Ole and Arn?

I believe Gene had his first match for JCP in late 1964. I'll try to check it out later and post the first date i have for him.

I believe that Gene did wrestle for JCP in the 1960s. I do not think that he teamed with Ole and Arn in 1985.

Gene Anderson's first match with Jim Crockett Promotions is believed to be August 19, 1963 against Chief Big Heart. A clipping from the newspaper promoting that match can be found on the Anderson Brothers Classic website. A direct link to that page: Gene Anderson Newspaper ClippingsThe page also includes clippings from singles matches Gene had challenging for the NWA World title and the Mid-Atlantic title as well as some of his personal journal entries.

This is the earliest tv match I have been able to document of Gene and Lars in JCP.The show was taped on May 11,1966. The Anderson Bros. left for Georgia in Oct.1966.While there they won the Georgia versions of the Southern and World Tag Team belts. When Gene and Lars returned to JCP in 1967 they had developed into a powerful tag team.

i notice the TV GUIDE features both the WGHP and WBT listing. what edition is this from. my guess is it was the north carolina edition. i am thinking the charlotte edition began in the early '80's and before then, there was only one that covered the entire state. i may be wrong.

That is right Bobby. This did come from the North Carolina edition. It didn't quite cover the whole state though. There was a Carolina/Tenn edition that included the channels from the Asheville,NC area. Some of my WBTV listings have come from those as they also had the listings for all the Charlotte stations but did not have the High Point listings.

I remember Dad trying to make an in the ring comeback around 1983. He was in bad physical condition though, he had a stroke in 1980 or 1981 ( I was only 10 or 11 Yrs.old then so the timeline is vague.) Right after the stroke he was put on blood thinners and at the same time was diagnosed as a diabetic, and had to take daily insulin injections. Having wrestling in his blood regardless of what was better for him, he did work as hard as he could at a come back, but one health issue after another kept occurring. I definitely remember him still wrestling in 1984. The April 1985 date with Ole and Buzz seems a little late, but I was just a goofy teen at the time so what do I know.- Brad Anderson
