Does anyone have knowledge about Buddy Roger's exit from Crockett Promotions in late 1979 or early 1980?
I'm working on a list of singles matches between Flair and Rogers in 1979. Their final match may have been in Norfolk VA on Thanksgiving night, 11/22/79. Rogers won by count-out and they announced a return on 12/6 with two referees.
After Thanksgiving, Rogers was billed for several other single matches with Flair, but they didn’t happen:
12.02.79 Roanoke, Rogers replaced by Masked Superstar 12.06.79 Norfolk Rogers replaced by Ray Stevens 12.09.79 Toronto, Rogers replaced by Ray Stevens
The last result I have of Rogers making a Crockett show is 11/27 in Raleigh against Tim Woods. He appeared on Toronto TV for a Crockett/Tunney show, but I'm not sure when that was actually taped. He was billed to wrestle in a six man in Greensboro on 12/2, and may have worked that show, I don’t have a result. He also may have worked a 12/16 Charlotte show just before the annual Crockett two-week Christmas break, but I don't have clippings for that show.
Rogers disappeared from the cards for the rest of the year. I haven’t researched 1980 yet.
Does anyone remember if Rogers was injured or left the promotion for some other reason?

This was after the original worked ear injury, right? Becasue they worked that ear thing for awhile in the arenas, Rogers did promos about how quiet he needed it to be, etc. I missed most of this myself as i was living and working in Alabama then. There is some 16mm footage on the "Cornette tapes" of Rogers selling the whole ear thing, and I believe there is a photo in Mid-Atlantic Magazine of Rogers with the ear taped up. But having missed most of that, I can't piece it all together very well.

When did the "Battle of the Nature Boy's" match happened where Flair apparentely beat him within 3 minutes or so?

I've never heard of that. Not saying it didn't happen, but I've just never heard about it.

Are you saying this was the 3 minute match Phinney is talking about?

I stand corrected. A friend of mine told me that the match took place on July 8th, 1979 at the historic Greensboro War Memorial Coliseum when Flair beat Rogers

I've seen results for the show before and they mention the match only going 3 minutes. Not saying its right but thats why I thought it was 3 minutes.
