Continuing with a string of 30th Anniversary celebrations, Terry Funk's official website makes note of his win 30 years ago this Saturday December 10th of the NWA world title.
He defeated Jack Brisco at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, FL. on Wednesday night, December 10, 1975.
This was a big deal for me personally. I started regualrly watching wrestling in 1975. Jack Brisco was champion, and so the first NWA title change I remember was Terry Funk defeating Jack Brisco.
And this was a big deal to Mid-Atlantic fans because only one month earlier Terry had won "our" US belt in that famous tournament in Greensboro. Now he was world champion, and I was just so sure that Wahoo McDaniel or Paul Jones was going to win it from him!
