When Ric Flair entered the MACW, he was said to be Rip Hawk's nephew. Was it mentioned at the same time that he was a cousin to the Andersons or did this come later? And was Rip Hawk suppose to be related to the Andersons too?

I believe the cousin connection with the Andersons came up after Rip left Crockett Promotions. (Mac W Richmond will know for sure.) George Scott was determined to make Flair related to the heels for some reason. It worked. The fact we still talk about it 30 years later attests to the durability of that storyline.
For fun though, we once tried to come up with a family tree to determine how the Andersons were related to Rip Hawk. I think we decided it had to all be on Flair's mother's side of the family. Rip must have been Flair's mother's brother, and the Anderson Brother's mother would have also been a sibling of Ric Flair's mother.
Makes your head hurt. Meanwhile, a search of Minnesota court and hospital records is in progress...
** Late addition to this post courtesy of e-mail from Mac Richmond: "You're right....the Anderson's left JCP for Georgia in March/April 1974---about a month before Ric entered the Mid-Atlantic area. Rip Hawk left Crockett for good in the last few days of 1974, and the Anderson's started back here on or about January 1, 1975. So the references to Ric being related to the Anderson's started sometime during early 1975."

Thanks for the info Baltimore Jack.
Some other relatives of the "Andersons" from their AWA days.
Buddy Wolff was Lars' cousin.
Dick the Bruiser was Ole's Uncle

No kidding! I have never heard that before! Oh goodness, this has thrown my Anderson family geneology study way off schedule!
I've always been intrigued by the whole "Anderson family" connections. But Dick the Brusier was surely Alan "The Rock" Rogofski's (sp?) uncle, right? Ole wasn't an Anderson until he came to Crockett.
I'd love to know more about this.

All we need now is for an Anderson to be related to one of the Wild Samoans, and then you can connect about 372 wrestlers!

Didn't the Andersons injure Flair in the early 80's? I turned 5 in 1984 so it was kinda before my time. It seems like I've seen it on some of the old tapes my brother and I have.
