Why did Jim Crockett censor Abdullah the Butcher when he wrestled in the Mid Atlantic area especially on tv.
The first time Abdullah was on he jumped Wahoo Mcdaniel and bloodied him up really good. and when they showed it the whole video of it was in black & white.
On interviews they wouldnt let him do the wild interviews he was famous for like biting the heads off of chickens etc.,So whats the deal yall

The black-and-white is an obvious attempt to cover up the red blood. I'm sure some of the stations would have yanked the shows had they shown Abdullah biting the heads off chickens.

Plus, it was a great promotional tool. The only way to see Abdullah The Butcher uncensored is at your local arena. Remember, this was at a time when they actually had to have butts in seats to get paid.

I miss the days of compensating wrestlers based upon gate receipts. Piper would walk to the ring and it would take him two minutes b/c he was busy counting up the number of empty seats in the arena.

Abdullah was awesome in the area. I wished he would have stuck around a lot loner for a few years.
