Or perhaps that should be Best of 8? Or 9? From what I can piece together on TV shows, Koloff won 3 in a row. Then Magnum tied it up. The "seventh" match might have been held in several venues, ending in double-DQs, double-COs, draws, etc. Come to think of it, that's a pretty neat marketing ploy. Once it was tied 3-3, they could advertise the "seventh" match for several house shows, and the fans at each would buy tickets, thinking that they would see the historic title change. Then, there's the "final" match 7, Aug 17 Charlotte, in which Nikita uses the chain to win the held-up US Title. I did manage to gather some details from jcpwrestling.com/1986.htm : Match 4 : Magnum over Koloff 8/2/86 Atlanta Match "7": Double countout 8/16/86 Philadelphia So ... anyone know the dates/places/results for the other matches?

1) 7/1/86, Philadelphia, Veterans Stadium: Nikita wins, leads 1-0
2) 7/5/86, Cincinnati, Riverfront Stadium: Nikita wins, leads 2-0
3) 7/11/86, Roanoke, Va., Civic Center: Nikita wins, leads 3-0
4) 7/26/86, Greensboro, Coliseum: T.A. wins, Nikita leads 3-1 -- Taped, on GAB commercial tape
5) 8/2/86, Atlanta, Fulton County Stadium: T.A. wins, Nikita leads 3-2
6) 8/5/86, Asheville, N.C. Civic Center T.A. wins, Series tied 3-3 -- Match was on World Wide Wrestling (NOT 100 percent sure on this date). Match aired on WWW, I believe on Aug. 9 or 16.
7*) 8/8/86, Richmond, Va., Coliseum DDQ, Series still tied -- This goes with your theory of taking Match 7 around the circuit. This match was on the card
8*) 8/16/86, Philadelphia, Civic Center DDQ, Series still tied
9) 8/17/86, Charlotte, Coliseum Nikita wins, wins series 4-3 -- Taped for WWW, shown on Aug. 23.

I try. I know that PWI listed the results from the Bash shows, then you had the match in Asheville on TV. I know that Richmond had a match because it was advertised on TV and same for Philly, then the Charlotte finale on TV.

I have three of these bouts in my collection. I'd have to say my favorite TA and Koloff encounter took place in September of 86 on World Wide when they worked a 2 out of 3 falls contest. This was a well booked series and spanned several months. Considering they began working each other in the Spring of 86.

Lordkrieg, thank God somebody can verify from Richmond that match. I knew it was scheduled and at one time I believe I had the newspaper ad. I assume it was a DDQ or DCOR.
