I know there aren't many who would have cut the mustard in the old days, but there are a few. The two that I think would have been great in JCP are Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. They both have a good ground based mat wrestling style and are pretty good in a good ol' fashioned slugfest as well. Can you imagine Benoit trading chops with Johnny Valentine? Angle going hold for hold with either of the Briscos or Steamboat? I'd like to see your responses to this.

I'll match them up as modern roll players...
Chris Jericho-Face or Heel (Roddy Piper/Ric Flair)
Chris Benoit-Face or Heel (Ron Garvin/Arn Anderson)
Eddie Guerrero-Face or Heel (Ricky Steamboat/Manny Fernandez)
Shawn Michaels-Face (Magnum TA)
HHH-Heel (Greg Valentine/Ric Flair)
Steve Austin-Face or Heel (Dusty Rhodes/Harley Race)
Kurt Angle-Face or Heel (Wahoo McDaniel)
Rob Van Dam-Face or Heel (Ricky Morton/Bobby Eaton)
Edge-Face or Heel (Barry Windham)
Christian-Heel (Tully Blanchard)
Randy Orton-Face or Heel (Lex Luger)
Dave Batista-Face or Heel (Nikita Koloff)

Very interesting rundown VR. I've always seen Jericho as a modern day Piper myself. Benoit definitely fits the Arn Anderson mold, I like that comparison. But I see Batista being more of a Luger than a Koloff. If Triple H was a face, I'd draw a comparison between he and Rhodes (for obvious reasons ), but he has sort of become the modern day Nature Boy. Instead of Van Dam, Michaels would fit the Ricky Morton role (ironically a role he actually used to be in in the Midnight Rockers) and Orton would do well in the Tully Blanchard role (had he remained a heel).

I think Undertaker, Benoit, and Angle would've fit in with JCP. Undertaker is old school so he is definite.

i dont want to piss anyone off but should we continue to compare the likes of edge to windham? are you kidding me? by the way i saw a piece of a commercial for video of gorgous george and somebody today. cant wait to see it again. instead of lynchburg, lets talk fayetteville. perfect for heels and faces-they could watch each other from across the place and you could see them watching.

No we shouldn't compare Edge to Windham. Bt then again in a prior time we wouldn't compare Flair to Buddy Rogers either. Times change, although the changes in the product haven't benefited this wrestling fan. Key word being wrestling. I don't want to piss anyone off with the comparisons. As I stated it was role playing, which is one facet of wrestling over the years. Everyone borrows from someone in the long run.

I agree with VR. No one was saying anyone from today is any better than anyone from back then. Comparing Edge to Barry Windham is like comparing apples to oranges. They're two completely different wrestlers with two completely different styles. I think the point VR was making is that Edge plays that role of the renegade bad guy who used to be very popular with the fans, just like Windham did when he first turned. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, which is what these boards are all about. Go Heels, beat Duke!

Only one as far as I'm concerned: "GOLDBERG" Goldberg vs Nikita or as a tag team vs the Andersons

Goldberg could actually play the role of Nikita as well.

Funny thing about Goldberg...when I first saw him, I thought it WAS Nikita! Then I looked again and saw it wasn't, and was disappointed.

The only wrestler in the WWF today that would fit in JCP is Ric Flair as Ric Flair.

Stomping Ground, you don't think Chris Benoit would be over in the old JCP? This guy's style is perfect for the wrestling we all watched back in the day. He's got technical skill, he can brawl, he can sell. Heck, he even does one thing well that it seemed like all old Mid-Atlantic stars did well...throw those backhand chops!!! I for one would love to see Benoit tangle with Paul Jones in his prime!!!
