Nikla,
After a little research, I found out that you used the title "Andrea the lady giant killer" in WCCW. And also you were working with Gary Hart!! I found it interesting that Gino referred to you also by you correct name and Bill Mercer did not, calling you Nicola, which I always thought was your first name.
Who thought up the name Andrea?? And did you ever have any matches with Stella Mae French?
Thanks!

I thought that Bill Mercer referred to her as "Andrea, the Lady Giant." I think he did also!! But let me add this: Someone has a tribute page for Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams with a bunch of old film and audio. And Nikla is definitely featured in it. I have not listened to it all but there may definitely be the answer to my questions deep in the various clippings.

Gino and I had been "friends" for a long time before I worked with him in World Class. SO he knew my name on a more personal basis. I was his stalker--did anything to get closer to him.
Who thought up the name Andrea?? I am not sure who came up with Andrea but I did not like it.. Seemed kind of weird to me that they would want me to seem ugly and freakish.. And did you ever have any matches with Stella Mae French? Yes a few, and they were very bad,...very very bad Thanks![/quote]

I imagine the Andrea part of the name came as an equivilent to Andre. Andre the Giant ---Andrea the Lady Giant. Just my opinion.

That seems like a logical explanation. Andre the Giant - Andrea the Lady Giant. Nicola Roberts/Baby Doll was as tall, if not taller than Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, Gary Hart, and Jake Roberts. I miss 1984 World Class Championship Wrestling!

It was Marc Lowrance I think; not Mercer.

Both of the television announcers, Mercer and Lowrance, were told to address me as Andrea. Gino did not like Andrea so he used my real name, plus it may have been more natural since he had known me from his Lubbock appearances. Gino and Chris were about 6'1", Gary Hart was closer to my heigth of 5'10", and Jake is 6"6". In heels I stand about 6'2". So sad to realize that Chris and Gino are gone. Reality hit when choosing the right verb tenses in previous sentences.

When you joined WCCW in August 1984, you were fueding with Aunt Stellah Mae French for the first couple of months. At the Cotton Bowl show, in late October, WCCW brought back Sunshine who left in June 1984. Then, you started fueding with her. When did you leave WCCW? Did you go directly to JCP/Mid-Atlantic?

Sunshine left early in 1984 due to stresses of the job. I started the Sunday before Labor Day of 1984.. My last matches in conjunction with World Class was Christmas Day and the day after in Tampa and Miami, Fla.. That is where I met Dusty and Tully. They decided that I would be Tully's Perfect 10 after watching my matches with Stella Mae.

Nickla, There is no doubt in my mind that you were very successful in the JCP area due to your noteriety in the World Class area. I really enjoyed being able to watch World Class Wrestling on Saturday mornings and then watch Jim Crockett Promotions on Saturday afternoons. That was how programming was in Raleigh, NC and I do miss it.
