Thanks for the question, JBLCENAFAN. Sorry I missed you in Waynesboro this past weekend.
No theme has been established for next year's NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest. Don't know that there will be a "theme" more specific than that.
I'm sure it will be another exciting weekend for all of us that love fanfest and, as always, I welcome any ideas and suggestions you guys might offer.
Thanks,
Greg

geez you know , one of the main complaints here Greg is "this guy wasn't this or that" I think everyone from Alex Wright to Paul Roma to Randy Savage had fans. I just want different people , some people like Cornette light up a room and are awesome story tellers. I just grow tired of seeing the same 10 or so people at every single indy show I go to. Perhaps not having a theme and painting yourself into a corner could work as well. Is is harder to get WWE people? I know lots of the old schoolers like Dusty , Tully , Steamboat , Rotundo , Hayes are all under WWE control. I still would like to see someone like a RVD at a table with a Arn Anderson with a Tammy Sytch. I think the fans of today would flock to see a current star and us usual suspects would all show up to see the NWA/WWF classic stars.

And you will see many new faces at next year's fanfest, but I don't expect any of the guests to be "current" stars. I'll never change the "legends" theme of fanfest weekend, although I may from time to time bring in more recent big names (ala Bret Hart,) just not current stars. Hope that makes sense. Also, in Charlotte, we will endeavor to remain true to the NWA brand. Charlotte was the home of the NWA for so many years. I want to continue to focus the Charlotte fanfest weekend on the NWA and Mid-Atlantic days. But again, we might do other things in other areas.

There is no need to bring in anyone who debuted in the last 20 years or so. And even though the NWA MACW banner limits slightly, the performers worked in so many different territories that narrowing it down still doesn't constrict by any means. There aren't many Sting's or Bruno Sammartino's that were almost exclusive workers. Like Piper is known to you guys as fighting Valentine in the dog collar match, while to the people in my region, he is known for WWF stuff. Different memories, different territories, same performer...

The last one in Carolina had A.J. Styles and other current TNA stars didn't it? Yes, but they were only part of the matches on Saturday and Sunday. They did not participate in the autograph signings/polaroids.

Yes, but they were only part of the matches on Saturday and Sunday. They did not participate in the autograph signings/polaroids. We actually did have a Photo Op for AJ Styles...... But next year, I'll make sure everyone on the wrestling card also has Photo Ops and a chance to sign autographs for everyone.

I like the mix that the official Fanfest guests are legends from the territory days, but that vendors sometimes bring in a few younger guys....it works for them as they have that variety as a selling point, differentiating them from the Fanfest line-up....and it works for the fans as some people like having one or two wrestlers from a different era incase a five minute break from legends is needed....(although I'm cool with wall-to-wall Mid Atlantic legends)
Basically - Charlotte 2005 with the wrestling matches was a perfect mix as you had contemporary TNA & indie guys in, so after meeting legends and learning about the business during those Q&As, it was icing on the cake to see wrestling shows from a roster of credible modern wrestlers....
TNA should run their August PPV from Fanfest!! Well....maybe not....but it would be cool if they ran their August PPV from one of the smaller local arenas on the Sunday of Fanfest....they would have a bunch of wrestling fans from all over in town who would likely go out of interest, plus most of the TNA roster would then be in town to work the Saturday night Fanfest matches at the hotel - or make appearances at Fanfest (that would give us STING and JAKE!!)!
See - I got it all thought out!!

the only issue i have is that if i ran a fanfest would a want 300 extra people to show up to meet Kurt Angle , or "keep it real" and since he never wrestled in MACW lose out on a bigger crowd. Having current stars isn't selling your soul you know...

I agree with that - I think Kurt Angle would fall in the category of being a no-questions-asked exception to the rule, similar to Bret appearing in 2005 despite not being a Mid Atlantic guy, nor synonymous with the territory days. Kurt doing a signing and/or Q&A at Fanfest would be one of the biggest possible draws....and I think after seeing the popularity of Bret at the previous 2 Fanfests that its easily justifiable to spend extra cash on a big star that doesn't fit exactly into the remit or theme of the event....

I just want to thank you for having Bret Hart, he was always my very fav wrestler & it is not like he is in our area a whole lot so you made my dream come true!!!! I also got to meet AJ Styles & got his autograph...I love the wrestling shows so don't do away with that...it'd be nice to meet AMW again, they are cool guys! I'd also love to meet Piper!!

Of course, they are on the Abdullah the Butcher Seefood diet. They eat everything they see! Kind of makes you feel sorry for the poor chickens.
