Hi Mr. Eadie. I used to work (gopher) for the Murnicks at the old Dorton Arena in Raleigh. I always thought your tag team with Paul Jones was one of the best ever. However, that team doesn't seem to get much attention from other posters on this and others boards. Wondering your thoughts and how you would place that team as far as chemistry. Did you and Paul Jones get along personally?

Thanks for the question. I think your correct. When fans speak of tags they usually don't recall Paul and I being together that much, but we did have a good run. I think they overlook us to a degree because we wrestled against each other for so long. Most often when Paul and I are mentioned together it has to do with the time I cut his hair.
Yes, Paul and I are friends. In fact I was able to see and speak with him a few times at several Legends events.
I had been thinking about your relationship with Paul Jones for years and do have an interesting question... When Paul left the NWA in late 1988, was he ever considered by the WWE at that time? Could he have been a good fit for the WWE in hindsight? I certainly can imagine he would be a pretty good manager for Demolition (after all, he did manage the Powers of Pain in the NWA), based on his relationship with you.
This is not a knock on Mr. Fuji nor on Johnny Valiant, but I thought Paul would just be as good a manager for Ax and Smash if not better than those two, since Paul does do well as a heel manager.

Good question. I really don't know if he was considered or even if he would have gone to WWF. I agree he would have been a good fit. I would have thought that he would have made the move when the Powers of Pain came in originally. That would have been the move to make. I'm not sure of any particulars and I haven't even spoken to hi about that. Perhaps you may be able to get the real answer if you get a chance to speak with him.
It was a good question ,the first time was ever asked that. Sorry if I' not able to give better answer. You must remember at that time there were quite a few managers in WWF and that may have been one factor.

Paul and I have discussed his retirement several times, and his story is always the same - according to him, he didn't want to make a move to the WWE (although I don't think they ever contacted him anyway) or anywhere else for that matter. He wanted to retire and play golf - he was tired of the traveling, getting thrown around every night, and the toll that it was taking on his body, and he wanted to get out of the business and spend more time with his son. Paul said he turned in his notice to George Scott around the time he turned 40, and Scott and Crockett talked him into becoming a manager for a while instead of just walking away from the business completely. So he went on to manage for several years and finally, he figured he had held up his end of the bargain, and he just quit the business and went on to open his auto repair shop.
