i sat down yesterday and watched this. finally got a good copy of it.
if anyone ever wonders why MACW was so huge or doesn't beleive it, just let this see this show. show them the way gordon solie and bob caudle made every match seem like it meant something big. show them that the crowd was into the wrestlers from beginning to end. show them the way the crowd SCREAMED and jumped for jimmy valiant when he, under the mask, beat kabuki. swho them the way the crowd screamed and jumped when roddy piper beat greg valentine, just as when ricky steamboat-jay youngblood beat the briscos. and when all that is and and done, show them how the crowd went berserk when the NWA World title changed hands. followed by the in ring celebration and the backroom interviews after the bouts were over.
after you are done, then show them the same thing on the WWE shows and let them see how the crowd sits there with little concern that the world title changed hands again.
they might also see that there was maybe one sign in the crowd. and only one entrance song, and that was for flair. while on that, let them see how the crowd reacted when the boys were introduced as they walked into the ring WITHOUT music.
if anybody can sit down and watch and listen to this show, they wouldn't want to watch anymore of the current stuff if they paid attention.
now, if they would only get the "boogie jam '84" out to the public in it's entirety, then you can all see why i harp on that flair-steamboat match so much.....
