I know it is from one of the JCP MACW photo albums released in the mid 70's.

Yes it was a promotional picture for Mid- Atlantic.I can't remember which one. If I recall correctly it was following one of my many trips to Japan. I had been in several tournaments as the tag team of "The Mongols". We won a tournament and placed second in another. The office in Charlotte wanted to include the medals as part of the Superstar mystique!!! It wasn't my idea but we did it.
That's about all to te story. I think George Scott may have instructed the announcers to mentioned them once in awhile but I think he let the fans to come up with ther own conclusions!!!!!
Hope that helps.

Clayton, Feel free toadd to this. I have found that the fans often have a much better recollection of the events than we do. Any help you can add is welcomed.

On the Sept. 29, 1976 edition of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, Bill Eadie and Boris Malenko pulled off one of the most amazing "slight-of-hand" transformations in wrestling history. On the very same show , they showed film from Greensboro where Wahoo McDaniel defeated Bolo Mongol in a loser leave town match (that also resulted in Wahoo "scalping" the top-knot from Bolo's head). Moments later on the program, Professor Malenko introduced his new protégé, the Masked Superstar. What fans didn’t know until years later was that they were indeed the same man. We’ve seen wrestlers change character or persona before and since, but never on the same show, and never so convincingly! That is a special moment to look back on. As far as this photo, when Professor Malenko first introduced Masked Superstar in the ring on Sept. 29, 1976, he announced him as a Doctor of Psychology and a Doctor of Neurology, as well as a gold medal winner in the Olympics! The doctorates weren't mentioned much after that, but Bob Caudle, David Crockett, and Ed Capral all played up the Superstar's olympic medal credentials for weeks. The photo appears in Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Magazine (Vol. 3 No. 4) which was published in late 1977, and as Mr. Eadie mentioned above was a special full-color photo album edition of the magazine. You can read about Bill Eadie’s exit as Bolo Mongol and debut as the Masked Superstar all on the same show in the Mid-Atlantic Gateway’s Almanac in the section for July-September 1976.

Jack and Clayton,
I continue to be amazed with the fans insight. I have mentioned to Jack before that I do think I suffer from Part-timers.(perhaps too many knocks to the head) The photo was taken in an apartment that my wife , two girls and I had in Charlotte. Pawtuckett -on-the-Green Golf course.Off Little Rock Road. It was a nice place at the time. Haven't been back to that area again. I would imagine the way Charlotte has grown it may be gone and replaced with a housing development.

I'll be in Charlotte this summer working with my son-in-law. I will try to make a trip over there to see what has become of it. We enjoyed our stay there. We were looking to buy a home in Charlotte but I was sent to Atlanta and the story changes there. Funny we may end up back in Charlotte later. My daughter is there and when my grandson finishes H.S. we have discussed moving closer to my daughter. He will be going to college and we could basically live anywhere then. It will be there or the beach.
