The Dick Slater interview is done, and I will be passing it on to the very capable hands of Baltimore Jack this evening. Jack is the one who makes these interviews look so pleasing to the eye on the site, so he'll need some time once he gets it from me. But I suspect the interview will be up on the site soon, as I'm the delaying factor in these things...not Jack!
I hope the month or so wait will have been worth it for you all. Slater's ties the Gateway interview record for length (49 WORD pages along with Blackjack Mulligan's!), and in many respects may remind you of Blackjack's interview. Slater covers about every topic imaginable, including some very serious occurrences in his life since his in-ring career ended.
My special thanks to Lisa Lostraglio and Peggy Lathan for their help with this. And, of course, to "Mr. Unpredictable," Dick Slater!
I'm very excited to be speaking with Rich Landum on Sunday, for the Gateway's next interview! Rich joins us on these Boards periodically as the "Voice," so try not to ask him too many questions between now and Sunday...so I'll have some left! Looking forward to Sunday, Rich!

You know, an interview with 'The Voice' may be nice - I'm sure that Rich has some interesting tales to tell about his time at WRAL and hanging around the boys. I'm sure that Rich can even tell a tale or 2 about Blackjack buying a Caddy from him.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I spoke with Slater again earlier this week, and he's doing well!
For the record, Slater's interview has just been sent to Baltimore Jack...all further delays are attributable to Jack!!!! ;D

I should have it up on the Gateway by Sunday. I'm still reading the thing myself! Just shy of 50 pages typed. So now we know Mac can type no faster than about 12 pages a week.

Perhaps the best interview on your site as of yet.
I had no idea of Slaters health and legal problems in recent years.
He comes across as a genuinely good human being who has been dealt a lot of harsh and unfair blows recently. My thoughts and prayers go out to him.
Thanks once again for these series of interviews you are doing with all of these figures from my past. It touches me greatly to catch up with these guys....

David Chappell, once again, has done an incredible job with his interview with Dick Slater.
I certainly appreciate the many great contributions to the wrestling business Mr. Slater has provided, and am grateful for the "in-depth" details of his personal and professional life he has chosen to share with us through David.

It is really sad to see so many wrestlers end up with bad health and little money. The Slater interview, like all the others is very good. These guys did so many shows I'm sure it is hard for them to remember dates and stuff. I've read several books the past few years written by wrestlers and they all seem to remember which areas they worked as bookers for. All of these books leave out so many wrestlers that worked in the 70's and 80's. It is their story. I just wished they would tell more of it.

Wow great interview as always guys.
Dick is really lucky to be alive. He sounds like he has gotten his optimism back and is moving forward.
Perscription drugs are no joke. In my field I hear about people all the time that have problems with doses..overdoses and with horrible sideeffects...not all of them physical. The mental aspect is one not to be underestimated.
Any chance of Dick Slater hitting one of Greg's Fanfest reunions anytime soon?
