According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer newsletter (issue dated October 9th) Marty Jannetty has been fired again. He was fired on September 29th, for basically going AWOL and not returning calls, a la Justin Credible. This marks the 8th time he has been fired by WWE during his career, including three firings in the past 18 months. This latest spell means he was employed by WWE for just 14 days.

I looked up his firings:

#1: Hired: Summer 1987. Fired: Summer 1987 (two weeks later - this was detailed
in Michaels' autobiography, about how they got 'framed' for partying too much).
#2: Rehired: Summer 1988. Fired: February 1992.
#3: Rehired: November 1992. Fired: February 1993.
#4: Rehired: May 1993. Fired: February 1994
#5: Rehired: September 1995. Fired: December 1996
#6: Rehired: March 2005. Fired: July 2005
#7: Rehired: February 2006. Fired: March 2006
#8: Rehired: September 15th, 2006. Fired: September 29th, 2006 (without working
a single date - that must be a first?).

It's too bad, I always enjoyed Marty's work in the ring, but he has nobody to blame but himself. I just wish he'd get his act together, as I wouldn't mind seeing him back in the WWE for more than just an appearance here or there.
