Bobby: Gene Kiniski was WAY past his prime by the time of that Richmond match. He wasn't mentioned on MACW TV around that time, so I doubt he did any kind of run around the area. If I'm not mistaken, that card was on a Saturday night, and often if a big name from another area came in for a match the card would be on a Saturday. Don't know if Gene coming in had something to do with Kelly starting in the area...I'm drawing a blank on when Kelly first started for JCP.

i didn't think gene kiniski "had it" by the way he was in the STARRCADE match. but i bet it was still interesting.
i don't recall ever knowing that gory guerrero ever worked JCP. yeah, hector worked here a little and then became lazer-tron. hector and chavo worked the first crockett cup in new orleans but they were both UWF talent then. i know chavo worked for JCP some after the UWF buyout, but i think that was mainly in the UWF markets.

Bobby,Gory Guerrero wrestled in JCP during 1965-66. He had some great tv matches against Great Malenko and Bronco Lubich. The match with Lubich was a 2 out of 3 falls match on the live Roanoke show. For some reason during that period the WDBJ show rarely featured tag matches.

CWH, didn't you have a newspaper clipping in Lenoir with Gory on the card in the Mid-Atlantic area that you were showing Chavo Jr.? If so, scan and send to me and I'll host it on the Gateway so it can be displayed here.

They came along in the late 80's , and early 90's - but Dustin "Don't call me Goldust" Rhodes, Kendall Windham, and David Flair. I think Dustin had/has the most potential, followed by Flair.

Here is the clipping of Gory when he appeared in Winston-Salem. ** Image No Longer Available ** CWH47 showed this to Chavo Sr. at the Lenoir show, and Chavo seemed to really enjoy talking about his Dad, and seemed appreciative that someone would take the time to share this with him. Cool moment with a legend. Mid-Atlantic Gateway

I don't know if I remembered him being in MACW at all (I started watching it in 1980), but Gordon Solie tried to push 'young Mike Graham' around the same time as Sammartino in Georgia/

So many great second generation superstars in Mid-Atlantic. It may have already been mentioned but one of the best was Johnny Valentine and Greg Valentine. There was also the complete opposite (really bad) Angelo Mosca Sr. and Angelo Mosca Jr.

I certainly remember Gory wrestling for Crockett in the 1960's...mostly a jobber though. Great TV matches against the likes of Hawk & Hansen, Bogni & Lubich, The Bolos (yea), etc.
