AP reported at 5:30 p.m. this evening that Don Knotts, best known as Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show", died Friday night at 81 of pulmonary and respiratory complications.

very sad news, indeed. The Andy Griffith Show is timeless. Knotts was a truly talented man, not only was he a successful actor, but he also was a high school valedictorian.

He was living in Morgantown, WV at the time, I think. I really enjoyed him in the early 1980s as Ralph Furley on Three's Company.

yeah, he was originally from Morgantown. That is where he was high school valedictorian.

You know Don Knotts was the only one on the Andy Griffith show who won an award for the role he played. Now he is up in heaven with buddy John Ritter bringing laughter to the angels. He will be missed.
