Sting will be at TNA's pay-per-view next month! I hear has signed a one year deal, but that was just rumour and speculation. Anyway it will good to see him back, short term or long. What has anybody else heard about this deal?

As far as I know, it's a one-year deal, assuming through the entire year of 2006.

I just thought of something, and if someone can prove this or not, let me know. But let's say Sting wins the NWA World title from Jeff Jarrett sometime in 2006 (I'd bet money this will happen at least once), would he set a record for longest period from one title reign to the next.
I mean he last held the NWA World title in 1991 after Ric Flair beat him at the Meadowlands. I think this just may be the longest period in between title runs for a multiple-time champion.

This is interesting news. I never was a huge fan of Stings' (I mean, c'mon, he was always up against Flair), but I think it would be cool to see him in the ring, especially with TNA. Could be a good thing for both, and if it brings in the ratings, I could see him lasting longer than a year. Don't get me wrong, I doubt Sting will do that much for him, but he does still have a good fanbase that would support him all the way. It's better than him signing with WWE, IMO.

Honestly, I think this is a stupid, stupid move on TNA's part. Do you honestly think Sting will bring ratings up enough to justify his contract? Unless I missed something TNA still lets everyone come into thier Tapings for free, I think they charge for PPV tickets but I'm not sure.
Even so, I don't think giving Sting all this money for one year's worth of work, a Sting that hasn't wrestled in years mind you, is going to push thier ratings over a ,8. Plus if they do start touring I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt Sting will do any house shows.

I read somewhere, (Prowrestling.com, Pwinsider, can't remember) that he signed a 1 year deal for $500,000. If he works all 36 shows, that would be almost 14 grand a show. I don't think they can get the ratings up enough to justify that kind of money. Not to mention what its going to do to the moral of the rest of the boys who have been there all along and are not making no where near that. I hope they know what they are doing.

There's also a report out there that Spike TV is helping pay for the contract. Don't remember which site I saw that on. Plus, Terry Taylor has mentioned that TNA may start doing house shows in 2006, which may be a factor in all of this. I think they need to do some house shows to build the product more on a national level. Right now, it's all TV, all Orlando, with the boys getting work here and there, but not together on a TNA show.

Sting certainly aint gonna save that TNA group and I seriously doubt they're paying him 500,000 per year. And they're not running any house shows either.....please!
