Best Version of the Four Horsemen?

Wondering if anyone had an opinion on this: What was the best combination of Horsemen? I personally think it was Ric, Arn, Tully, and Barry. They were (mostly) young, talented, successful, and so believable in the ring. I also enjoyed the original group, as well as the second incarnation with Luger. Sting and Vicious had potential, but really weren't there long enough. Paul Roma was a joke - without Tully, they shouldn't have bothered. The later groups were lukewarm - Benoit was a great choice, Malenko was a great wrestler - Mongo McMichael, definitely NOT - Jeff Jarrett would have done well, if he had stayed with the group. They could have really made the Horsemen special at the end with Flair, Benoit, Curt Hennig, and Jarrett, with Arn assuming JJ's position as adviser. Any thoughts?

the more andersons, the merrier. ole was the rock of this bunch. the original four was the best.

I agree. Ric, Arn, Tully, and Barry was the best. I think the Ric, Arn, Benoit, and Pillman Horsemen were by far the best Nitro-era version, and may have proved worthy of the name. Unfortunatly that version ended too soon.

Can't beat the original. No one was more believable in the ring than Ole Anderson.

If someone said "Pick the group to get the women and win the championships" I'd say the 1988 Windham version.

If someone said "Pick the group that you want in a fight, that will have your back, and will be standing with you when it's over", I'll take the 1986 Ole Anderson version.


(But come to think of it, women and championships don't sound half bad! )

I believe the original four consisting of Ole,Arn,Ric,and Tully with J.J. as the manager were truly the best. Look at all the different angles and probably some of the best interviews ever were with this group. I'll admit out of all the other incarnations the group with Barry Windham would be next on my list because of his wrestling ability. After that all the others were just imitators.

Ric Flair is out! With Gene as the manager!

I agree with the best being Arn, Ole, Tully and Flair w/ JJ...........That's certainly not taking anything away from the addition of Barry..... (big Windham fan here) but the original seems to be the better in my eyes.....I don't think i can say any good about any other horsemen additions...Those are the only two i liked...

I respect the original Four, but somehow Ole just didn't fit in with what the other guys were going for (i.e.-women, cars, belts, and style). In my opinion, in 1988, there were no better four wrestlers in the entire world than Ric, Barry, Arn, and Tully. At the last fanfest, I got to tell Tully of my preference and he agreed, saying the Windham version was quote, "easily the best group...by far."

Because of the bottom line, fanny every way, north, south, east, and west, the original four take the final score.

Had JCP not fallen from grace the Windham version had the potential to pass them up, had the company regained focus.
