I found out he sold the double cross ranch and cancelled bookings with several promoters. His homepage has the followng text:
"Sayonara 2006
Time doesn’t always please me. It continues on whether we like it or not. I look at pictures of my brother and myself taken ten years ago. It seems in my mind that only a few days ago we posed for them. My body has aged. I can tell that through the many injuries I’ve received over the years in the ring. Some people that I love are gone. I wish I were Merlin, the world’s greatest magician, and I would freeze time so that my friends and loved ones would always be with me. – Terry Funk, Japan 1983"
I was really looking forward to seeing him in Staunton as I have never met him. I hope I get the chance to meet him eventually and I hope he and his family are ok.

According to Marvin Ward, the Funker's done.... He told me that Funk called him and canceled all his bookings and was completely done. Although hes done this before too. This is the reason Marvin replaced him with Sandman, Raven, CW Anderson, Jay Lethal, and Danny Doring. It would have been my first time to meet the legend too and I have been disappointed but I can't argue with the Funkers decision.

Well I am disappointed but I can't say I blame him. I mean the things he has done through his life is just amazing. To be honest, I didn't care if he wrestled. I just wanted to talk to him. Maybe Greg can get him to the fanfest this time. I certainly hope so.

Maybe Greg can get him to the fanfest this time. I certainly hope so. Terry declined the invitation to be at fanfest, telling me he "just wasn't going to do anything." I told him if he changed his mind to let me know and that I would be calling him again next year trying to convince him to come to the Charlotte fanfest.

Funk is a fun guy to talk with I am lucky to have talked to him 2 times and get his book autographed. He has worked his ass off for all of us and needs to take time for him and his wife now. I wish him the best. Thank you Mr. Funk!!!!!!!

My brother and me and Terry Funk walked into a bar in Atlanta one night after the matches at the OMNI. It was an upscale bar called Billys in Buckhead. All the yuppies were in there and Terry had his head all bandaged up because he bled heavy that night and he looked around at the people in there who were staring at us and yelled out " this is a bar where women are women and men are too"! I spit my beer out I was laughing so hard. The yuppies looked terrified of the Funker. You had to be there!
