Hey Greg, Do you know who is filming the Q&A's this year yet? Scott I do not Scott, and there is a possibility that the Q&As will not be filmed this year.

Just wanted to add that I am really hoping the q and a's get filmed. The Midnight Express would be awesome to own forever on DVD. The other ones would be nice as well, but I am most looking forward to the Midnights...

Greg - I take it you usually get Highspots or someone to do it? Have you thought about doing it independently? I guess it depends on how much success you've had with the Q&A DVD sales in the past as to whether you think its worth doing, but all you need is a digital camcorder, a couple of tapes and a tripod, then it can be edited easily enough on computer, add titles etc, then you just need a company burn bulk amounts of DVD, or even just sell it on DVD-R yourself (Highspots and Wrestling Classics do this - there is actually NO production costs doing it this way, other than the cost of the camcorder tape - providing you have a camera - you can just burn off copies to fill orders) - even just copy to DVD using a DVD recorder....what I mean is: a Q&A with the Hart Foundation together is somewhat rare, so if you're paying the talent to do the Q&A you might as well put a DVD so as to maximise potential return on the investment. I think that also goes for Masked Superstar as well as Heenan & Cornette....
My point is: you don't need to pay some 'production company' to film it for you. All those companies that are very successful with shoots and Q&A's (like ROH Straight Shootin', Highspots and Wrestling Classics etc) usually do one camera shoots with a regular digital video camera. Absolutely barebones production expenditure. All you need is a camera, tape and someone to film it....

If ya'll won't have anybody taping, would it be possible for us to bring camcorders to tape the Q&A for our own home enjoyment?

Highspots will be there. Mike from Highspots was telling me they were working on getting the remastered Baby Doll shoot interview DVD out by next weekend. But, they are also filming all of the TNA house shows that weekend so they might be low on cameras. I'm sure with RF and Highspots in the house, the Q&A's will be filmed. I really cannot imagine RF or Highspots being there and NOT filming the Hart Foundation or Heenan/Cornette Q&A's. They would just be flushing money down the toilet if they don't.

Okay guys, before this gets turned into a huge conspiracy theory, let me say it is very likely the Q&As will be taped. I'm just not sure who will be doing it.
Highspots will be vending at fanfest, but they're also involved in the UWF/TNA shows next weekend in South Carolina, so they will be stretched thin.
Michael at Highspots has explained to me that the "market" just isn't there anymore for Q&As. He and RF Video have made an offer for the rights to the footage but, with everything considered, I'm just not interested in giving this stuff away.
If we do produce these 4 Q&As in-house, how many of you would be willing to plunk down $40 for the weekend's Q&As?

I would be interested in the Q&A DVD set adn would probably pay an extra $10 if Mark Nulty wasn't on camera or near a microphone during the festivities.......He was SO OBNOXIOUS during the set from last year........He was talking over the wrestlers and treated the fans like 3rd rate citizens a time or two.......I say bring on the DVDs

If we do produce these 4 Q&As in-house, how many of you would be willing to plunk down $40 for the weekend's Q&As? I would - I bought last years. Thinking about it though, there is a problem: presumably Highspots/RF wouldn't sell the DVD's if they didn't record the footage? The problem is they have popular websites where large volumes of wrestling fans go to purchase DVD's - i.e. they have a much better system of implementation to sell the DVDs. If you did it yourself your market would *presumably* be limited to however many people access this forum / attend Fanfest or whatever. Last years Q&A's were available in tons of places (I actually bought some from ROHwrestling.com).... Here is my honest take on the market potential of these Q&As on DVD - and the assertion from Highspots that the 'market isn't there anymore for Q&As'.... Well firstly, its a talent driven business, so I think the potential of a Q&A should only be based on who its with, and how many other shoots / Q&A's are around with that person.... MIDNIGHT EXPRESS: they do a lot of shoots & Q&A's. For everyone actually. Without Cornette they aren't particularly interesting, and this is more for the fun of being there. I can't see this one doing particularly well.... MASKED SUPERSTAR: I'm sure its going to be interesting. I personally am looking forward to this one the most out of all the Q&As. In terms of a DVD: well, I don't know if Bill's done that many shoots/Q&A's, Highspots have a shoot with him....it probably wouldn't be the hottest product, although likely to be head and shoulders above others on terms of quality etc.... Cornette & Heenan - well, these guys have done shoots, Q&A's and everything else everywhere a million times. ROH had great success with these two together in their Straight Shootin' series. The thing is: these two are hilarious and people can't get enough of them, and this would have the added bonus that it would be in front of a live Fanfest crowd (Heenan's always at his best in front of a live crowd). I would imagine this would be quite a popular DVD.... HART FOUNDATION: isn't it somewhat of a rarity, to have these two together?? Imagine the kind of business an ROH shoot with these two together would do. It's this one in particular that makes me think: if the market for Q&A's is so bad, then why do both RF and Highspots wanna film them? Of course, if its like one of those Q&A DVD's where its like a roundtable at some convention with Doink & Nikolai Volkoff & Fred Ottman or whatever its not gonna sell. Highspots sell shoots with Heidenreich, Gail Kim etc for chrissakes. The Heidenreich DVD is actually listed as a hot pre-order item on their website. You think a Heenan & Cornette or Hart Foundation Q&A dvd would sell worse than that?? No way.... Of course it's also about who you have to 'mediate' the Q&A and structuring it more like a shoot. If you just have a guy out there on his own you'll get all the questions like 'what are your memories of [match that everybody has seen and heard about]??' (Answer: ''oh there were lots of people there, I enjoyed going over'') etc whereas a host can prompt for interesting questions off of that question to get a more informative response. Although I am not condoning usage of Nulty because evidently he ain't too popular around these parts....plus I didn't think he added to the situation that much....
