What about getting Jake Roberts as a guest? You're GUARAN-FRIGGIN-TEED to sell a ton 'o stuff if you get Jake to show. Keep that in mind.

One must wonder how much Jake Roberts charges for an appearence? Would a vendor be able to make that back?

Hmmmm...lets see: I would imagine it's nothing major, maybe 1500-2000 bucks?
Hmmmm...lets see: Jake hasn't been to a fanfest type of event yet, correct? he's still a fan favorite(meaning: if you get him, people will buy tons of stuff from you), He's tough to get for that reason alone. I would imagine, you'd make up the cash you spent to get him to appear the very first day?(as long as you dont charge something like 50 bucks a ticket for pics and such). People thought Bret wouldnt sell, but he has, and has been back. Trust me, Jake is one of the few "household names" in the biz, EVERYONE knows who Jake is.
Something to consider. I would imagine the same amoutn spent to bring in: Bundy/Poffo/Virgil and so forth, wouldn't be a better return for anyone if they were to get Jake to show?

Who didn't think Bret would sell? Thats my and my friends biggest reason of going is because of Bret Hart. Adding Jake would be a dream come true.

I dont want to get into a huge diatribe about it, let's just say when Bret's name was initally mentioned last year as a guest? people were left wondering if his long time away from the biz, and his condition and so forth would hinder him from going, or if he'd cancel due to health reasons, etc. I thought Bret was a stand up guy last year and extremely nice and appreciative of his fans. Not only do I think that Jake SHOULD be there, I think anyone who can pull it off getting him there(and actually having him show up), won't be disappointed from the returns. IMO, Jake's been through enough from everyone, he's a legend and most definately DESERVES to be there, be it by vendor or Greg, or etc. I think it'd be very good for Jake to see he has a huge fanbase and people still care about him.

Would love to get my Pick Your Poison DVD signed by the man, he should have had a Q&A now that would have been incredible!

Okay guys. I don't want to discuss what people get paid, just as none of you want to discuss what you get paid. But your ballpark figure, Stingmark, is waaaaaayyyy off base.
Jake Roberts has been a friend since the early-90s and I can assure you that someday he WILL do a fanfest Q&A and I'd like to make that happen next year in Charlotte.
I have a big concern in trying to book guys. I don't want to just throw out a bunch of names that have played every stop on the circuit lately. Whether they've been to fanfest or not, if they've been used over and over everywhere else, it makes it more difficult in this day and time to make a return on that investment. From what I've heard, I think he did both Wrestlereunion shows, the recent legends PPV and numerous dates in the Northeast recently.
So it will happen, just not this time.

Honestly, I never cared in not discussing what I get paid Dunno why some people are sensitive over that. Also, I can say Jake Roberts was not in Wrestle Reunion 2 (I was there).

Okay, I stand corrected on the WR part. He was at the first one. I know he's done a few Northeast indy gigs in recent months. Not necessarily autograph signings, but shows. And the LOR show last year. And one of the things we're just not gonna talk about on here is wrestler paydays. Period.

I have to put my two cents in on this thread. I was at a really nice signing last year (10/15/05) in New Jersey. Some of the real greats were there: Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Bobby Heenan, Greg Valentine, Tito Santana, Bad News Brown, Paul Orndorff, etc. All of them were courteous, friendly, approachable, and professional. Also listed to appear was Jake Roberts. I had VIP access, which got me my items signed, as well as Polaroids with the wrestlers. I got to go in a long line and get them signed and have the pictures taken all in one swoop.
During the second part of the signing, he still hadn't shown up. I was completely through the line, when he showed up 20 minutes later. I was told I could come back and get his picture and autograph as soon as he got there. I went to put a few things in my car and got a drink. He signed for 15 minutes and that was it! So I never got my picture or autograph with him. His ex-wife was there to confront him about something, as she was talking to my friend about it. So I feel that Jake owes me a picture and autograph. It would be great to meet him, but I don't feel he brings the same level of professionalism as many of these other classy individuals. Just my opinion...

Just my personal experience with the wrestling legends.......JJ Dillon, Jim Cornette, Ivan Koloff, Tully Blanchard, Ron Garvin, Rock n Roll Express, and Midnight Express have been some of the nicest guys youn could ever hope to meet.......For all the criticism he gets, Dusty Rhodes has been super nice and very friendly every time I have beena round him.........Barry Windham was one of my all time favorites, but when I met him a few years ago, he didn't have too much to say. Just kinda like how ya doing? What do you want me to sign? Of course he had wrestled already that night so he may have simply been worn out and ready to go.......
Even though he isn't a legend yet, he is an old school fan: Steve Corino is very friendly and eager to talk to fans........Legend of the future to be sure........

Greg, wasnt trying to find out what he or anyone else gets paid to do a FF. My apologies to you if you thought that. I was simply saying that anything spent on getting Jake to show to FF, IMO would be immediately made up soon after the investment. I would also like to see him @ this years FF( ;D), and that's sweet that he's a friend of yours, as Jake was a big favorite of mine growing up watching wrestling. Meant no harm by it, just wish he could make it.
