Greg's idea can and will work. The only draw back would be if you have given you autograph ticket as you line up and had to get out of line for some reason. It happened to me when Dory Funk was not going to show up and then did. I was already seated and just minutes away from the wrestlers coming out when I realized that I had left his pictures in the room. Having organized my stuff the night before I put them in another folder and left them on the desk. Panic hit when I realized this and had to get to the 9th floor and back. Luckily I made it and all worked out. It could be a problem under the new system if my autograph ticket had already been taken. We'd take the tickets at the last moment, as you approached the stage. Honestly, I can't imagine any reason why this wouldn't work better.

so you are saying the VIP's would have a modified "boarding pass"?

instead of having 400 chairs taking up a lot of space, what if we call a group of numbers (1-30) to line up. Comments? I had very similar thoughts...instead of calling ALL people at once, have 1-150 take their seats and then an hour later have 151-300, etc....the signers could take a 10 minute bathroom break if needed and then start signing again. Plus, I'm sure the vendors would appreciate not having all the wallets in chairs for 3 or 4 hours at a time! Fred, Atl

if i had to run a auto session with a bush of wrestlers i would not have them all at one table i would have somemany tables set up in the room cause i got mad at the show cause i had to wait so long just to met one person i think that if it was set up like i think then i can just go get in that line then waiting on everyone to get the other people for exaple
bret hart, bobby heenan, sting, flair, and so on if i am there just to see sting at the time i would just go to his table instade of wanting in line for all the people if front of me going for flair.
if you notice at the auto sessions the allmost everyone want for bret and bobby was just sitting there board so if i got some bobby stuff i can just go to him instade that what i would do

For me, if I'm wanting everyone's autograph, I'd rather wait in one line to get everything from the group rather than have to wait in 5 or 6 lines for individuals.

i think you adressed this at the first event greg. didn't you make a point about some lines having tons of fans in line, while other guys (apparently mostly forgotten) would be sitting at their table bored?

I did, and that's one of my two main reasons for wanting to keep the group on the Autograph Stage instead of individual tables for each guy. The seond reason being what I mentioned earlier about having to wait in 5 or 6 lines as opposed to one.

I have never been to fanfest, but I am considering coming to the next one. I would much rather have everyone together and one line. If you want to get everyone, it would take far too long to wait in separate lines.
If you only really want one or two people, then you get a bunch of extra bonuses for waiting in line.

I'm curious to know how many of you have the same opinion as Mike. Because of the mass confusion at the Tampa show, that' pretty much want it boiled down too...people crowding around the table to see Piper or Snuka, etc and it was a mess. Also, some of the "lesser famous" stars were often left out, and that didn't seem fair. One dais (aptly defined as: A raised platform, as in a lecture hall, for speakers or honored guests), get all the signatures in a row, smooth and efficient seems the way to go. Fred*

Excellent idea, Greg!! Do it just as an airline would. Don't worry about 1-30 being in order, just let them in first, then call the next group. A person can go through with their "boarding pass" at any time on or after the time of their groups announcement. Brilliant.

I've got no problem with the new way since Greg has explained it and seems to be more than prepared. But please leave it as a group line, individual lines would be a mess to get through. This time Bret's line would have been extremely long while others wouldn't have anyone getting their signatures. The only time individual lines work well is when the person is there all day signing.

I think that's a great idea to keep people from having to sit for hours on end. How about you combine your idea with the other one thrown out? Instead of having a separate line for each person, maybe have 2 sessions of 4 people each going on at the same time, but staggered. So you could call #1-50 for the first 4 guys and then 1/2 hour later open up table #2 with 4 more guests and send #1-50 thru that line.
Just a thought as I think the system can be improved a bit. As a vendor, I was uncomfortable being away from my table for 2.5 hours at a stretch to sit in line.
