I know that Henry Marcus was pretty old when he passed away but just how old was he and where was he living at the time.
He was Pro Wrestling in the Myrtle Beach / Conway Area. This was HIS area in the 70's and 80's and the last time I saw him in person was around 88 and looked to be in his late 60's early 70's
A great man through and through in my opinion. If there was a Hall of Fame section for Promoters he should be at least an honorable mention/

I worked for Henry many times in Charleston . He was a good guy but the pay was always a little short. BUT, that was common in certain territories.

We would always see him at the Myrtle Beach / Conway shows and he did the exact same thing, HE would really plug the next show and he did put on a GREAT SHOW for a CHEAP TICKET. Never saw him outside of his work place though, when he was there, he was business and he was always there.

I've had several in the business tell me Henry was one of the promoters who always paid them straight up. I guess there have been different experiences down that long road. In 1998, Low Country Wrestling held a tribute show and huge fan gathering in honor of Henry Marcus. This took place at the historic County Hall in Charleston, SC., a building which no longer stands. Wrestlers who came to honor Henry (for no appearance fee, I might add) included some of the biggest names ever in the history of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling: Rip Hawk, Swede Hanson, Johnny Valentine, Ole Anderson, Tim Woods, Sandy Scott, Thunderbolt Patterson, George "Two Ton" Harris, Abe Jacobs, Tully Blanchard, Burrhead Jones, Fabulous Moohlah, Penny Banner, and many more. Photos from that event were featured not long ago on the Mid-Atlantic Gateway and are archived at the link below: Tribute to Henry Marcus at County Hall
