And while I'm thinking about it, why would anybody say that drugs led to his death? If the reports of the ruptured spleen are true, and the official report of the three heart attacks are true, then why blame drug abuse?

i'm guessing here, maybe drugs are the excuse because he alledgedly used them. people usually look for the worse in things, if they are right or not.

Look guys, we can sit here and debate about Jay's alleged drug abuse or we can all remember what a wonderful worker he was and think of all the great memories he left us with. I prefer to remember the good things about Jay, not all the talk of his personal problems. He's been gone twenty-one years now, the business lost one of its greatest young talents, let's cut him a little slack. And for the record, that match with Flair on the 80's dvd is awesome. It's one of the best tv matches I've ever seen. Plus it had commentary from Rich Landrum!

Jay had a problem with steroids. He ballooned up in size when he was doing the renegade gimmick. He died in Australia of heart failure (I heard he was in the airport when he collapsed). Tough was to go. Don't know how true it is but, I had heard the steroid story for years also.

I'm sure we all heard the alleged use of drugs, etc. But as it was said, let's remember Jay for his talent in the ring and let the man RIP.
I remember seeing Jay work one time, against Ali Bey. Nothing against Ali Bey, but he was a sub for Jay's scheduled opponent that night, Austin Idol. Now, that was a match I wanted to see.
That said, Jay was extremely talented in the ring. He could work his tail off with anybody.

Jay and Ricky were one of the best "face" tag teams in the biz at one time. And Ricky had the best fundamental "arm drag" in the biz...IMO !

I went to high school with Jay Youngblood's daughter. I think it was Jay. I know her father was one of the Youngbloods and he was deceased.

Jay was in fact The Renegade and teamed with Mark while in that persona. In Ricky Steamboat's shoot interview he talks at length about Jay's substance abuse and how when they were a team, he often had to "babysit" him on the road to try to keep him straight. And yes, he used the word "babysit" to describe it. He goes on to say that was the driving force behind him wanting to retire to dissolve the partnership and then become strictly a singles competitor again when he unretired a year later.

Ricky Steamboat said that while Jay was on tour in Australia he was having abdominal pains. He finally went to the hospital and it was found that he had a tumor in his pancreas. While he was being operated on his blood pressure went through the roof and his heart stopped. They revived him briefly but he then passed away.
It was not an OD.
